My Lemans SE project thread - update 2025

<< < (33/33)

Turin:
The red and white livery was a nod the original SE color scheme. The wheels were gold when I bought them. I'm too lazy to have them refinished in black or silver.

The wheel changes altered handling significantly. It went from quick to really slow.

The 150/50-18 rear tire (minus 2.5 inches diameter) drops the back end 2.5". The 120/60-17 front tire adds 3/4" in height to the front end. This gives a chopperesque 29.5 degrees of rake 5.5 inches of trail. A lot of that extra trail is due to the 25mm triple clamp offset. Great for landspeed or drag racing, not great for sharp corners. Longer shocks would be a solution, but I'm not changing the ones I have.

I ended up pushing the forks through the triples 15mm to quicken things back up. Rake is now 28 degrees and trail sits at 5". This is a decent compromise.

For comparison, a lemans 1000 with a 90/90-18 front tire is has 28 degrees and 4.5 inches of trail.

The stance has looks better.
