I have a GREEN Guzzi (again)
« on: October 12, 2015, 07:55:44 PM »
I've been wanting a Stelvio few years and since the 1000S went back "home", there was a hole in my garage, size of a new Guzzi....

On friday I went to see Roman at the Europa Macchina Guzzi Dealer (Lewisberry, PA) to stare at the flat green NTX Stelvio they had in stock. After the testride, it was rather obvious that the old Quota had met its match. The Stelvio was a fun, fun bike to ride, throw in the corners with quite a few more squirrels in the motor too.

Back today to Lewisberry with my daughter and a helmet, this time equipped with the mullah.
Lori gave me a fantastic a deal on a 2014 Stelvio NTX, in GREEN. I always liked the green color and since they had one in stock, decision was easy.

Wife saw my Stelvio post on Facebook today at the work and called why I did not tell her anything yesterday? I said, because I bought it TODAY!
Its all good, its 9PM she already talks to me!

So, here it is and I am one happy little clown!

Congrats buddy!   Save a corner in the garage for a loop someday, there are plenty out there.

The Quota? It's still in the garage, clean and pretty.
Not sure, I may keep it or sell it.

Kev,  the orange crush came close, but what I really wanted was a Stelvio. I did not test ride KTM, it would have probably flipped the scales... It's better rider and TONS more hp for sure.

Buying a motorcycle is sort of an emotional thing for me, not rational. Unlike a car.

Wow Lauri! Welcome to Stelvio ownership! :boozing: Of course CONGRATULATIONS!!

I, as will others here, be very interested in your comparison between the Quota and Stelvio since you have a little seat time on the Quota.

Again, congratulations. I expect to see that in Ohio next year!

For anybody else jonesing for a green Stelvio with 2K off, Cleveland Moto has one waiting for an owner. (usual disclaimer. I have nothing to gain. Just passing it on.)

Congrats!   Yeah, the big Orange may have more HP, and maybe even ride a little better, but, it has that dirty chain to deal with.    It isn't just about specs.   As you said, it is an emotional thing.

An, as for the Quota, if you decide to let it go, that makes room for a loop to ride in next years DGR.

Yeah, I might swap the big Q for a loop..., but on the other hand it's been a great  and reliable bike. We've seen a lot together. Unfortunately it's too big for my daughter, she looked good on a V7Racer though.

The Stelvio seem to have earned a nickname already.
The Green Amish Fly.

Here's why:

From this picture it looks like you have already done a rather interesting modification for off-roading, how did you manage the "trike" conversion with lugged tires? (JK)

Seriously, it looks great!  And a fairly simple change, just add 200 and your screen name still fits!

Awesome,
I picked up the orange version last fall. What an amazing machine. There's a guy over on ADV Rider that sells the fuses/wires all in one piece to fix the fog light issue if you are interested. I'm fairly bad at understanding electricity, so this was a no brainer for me, just plug and play! Enjoy

The wire that comes off the bulb is the culprit for rubbing and then grounding out. I used this: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/EMDCI/Home/Products/ProductCatalog/~/Scotch-Glass-Cloth-Electrical-Tape-27?N=5431881+3294280636&rt=rud  (Scotch® Glass Cloth Electrical Tape 27), and put two wraps on each lead. I then purchased a couple spare bulbs and prepped those as well. I have kept tabs on them and since wrapping them in 2012, I have not had any issues. Once you're done wrapping the wires on the bulbs, I would suggest cleaning any finger prints off the glass part of the bulb as is normal on halogens. The oils in your hand create hot spots and shorten the life of the bulb. I haven't used the spares yet either. No, I didn't bother with the fuses once I realized what the culprit is.

I ordered the wires already, but honestly I think I'll toss those candles in garage shelf and get some LED's.
My Quota has 25 degree 10W MondoMoto bullet LED's and holy crap they luminate the road well.  :thumb:
