V50 clutch sorted
« on: July 03, 2021, 06:53:48 AM »
A while back I posted problems with my v50ii clutch sticking so badly that I had to pull the lever and blip the throttle between every shift and before stopping. I got the bike with 7500 miles on it and it had been sitting for decades.  I disassembled and checked everything and reassembled with new thrust bearing and seals, and the problem persisted.  That was a gut punch. I’m happy to report that after riding the bike enthusiastically for about 500 miles the problem just got less and less evident and now is gone.  Maybe it just needed use.  My theory is that the clutch hub splines needed smoothing out.  I’m pretty sure I used a little moly/grease mixture on the splines but can’t remember.

Good deal!  Now keep riding it so it stays happy
