I love this color scheme
« on: March 20, 2019, 01:44:47 PM »
Ok guys, for the record, this post is about color schemes, not motorcycle brand comparisons! That out of the way. A Rainy day at Myrtle Beach SC, leaving little to do at the beach, I stopped by the Harley dealership, for entertainment only, as there are no Guzzi dealers anywhere the area. I laid eyes on this 2017 SOFT TAIL SLIM and immediately fell in love with the color scheme, flat black on army green with the big white star on the tank. I'd love that paint scheme on my 1400 tourer, I think it would look great but talking about HIGH DOLLAR!!!!

I don't see a picture in your original post.  What part of NC are you from?  I'm in Charlotte and just picked up a V7 III Racer.

MMMHMM the picture is there now. I'll try and send you one in this response.

I'm in the center of the Trian, 5 minutes from Winston-Salem, 5 from High Point and 5 from Kernersville.

Nice but I think it only fits to an US bike that won the war.
Moto Guzzi and Italy ... no...this is a No-Go.
Italy and Nazi Germany were allies.

If one wished to look past the colors and assign them to countries, we could drop the star and just keep the green and black. What ya think about the colors then?

Personally I am not a friend of green ... if green I would go for Tenni green and silver (V11 Le Mans Tenni) or

That's a good green also. I was just drawn to the drab green and flat black. However I did like the white star as I did not relate it or the bike to any particular country.

Yes, it's a special edition produced in limited numbers, according to the floor manager.

I like the paint on the Softail Slim as well.  It was a source of inspiration for my current project.  I painted my '02 CalStone in WW2 OD, but I don't think the star goes on this bike, though it has been oft suggested.  No Regrets.  Paint was in terrible condition when I bought the bike, and this is what I had.  I dig it, and that's what counts.  It had a bunch of black already, so I've blacked-out just a few other inexpensive components.

Nice! I think it need SOMETHING white on the tank. Maybe the Guzzi emblem, it would be to cut out and paint flat white. That would look great, I think anyway:)

I agree. I think a BIG WHITE GUZZI EAGLE EMBLEM would leave most people wondering, and those in the know laughing at the dichotomy and confusion.  :thumb:

Ha, ha.  I ended-up having a local sign shop do a standard block script MOTO GUZZI stencil for me for cheap... ended-up getting MOTTO GUZZI, which I fixed and did in black.  Really wanted the eagle, but that was going to complicate things.
