So with the SP1000 Revived back to the 850T
« on: February 23, 2019, 11:11:43 AM »
Monday I finished a going through my newly acquired SP1000 and with winter left I though I'd break the old 850T out of its resting place of the last 3+ years and work in getting it up and running.

Well that didn't take long

Pumped up the tires. 10 minutes to drain out about 3/4 gallon of old fuel. Put in a battery and turn the motor ove a few times to get oil pumping around. Turn the fuel on 3 pumps of the throttle and about 10 revolutions she started right up. After about 30 seconds of feathering the throttle she sat there and idled perfectly. Took it for a spin around the block and it ran flawlessly.

All I can say is damn this E-10 fuel and carb'ed bikes. Nothing but trouble.

Guess I'll spend the afternoon drinking beer now

If you got nothing left to work on in the winter, you better start looking for another bike. You can't have too many. That's what I tell my self.
I like to keep 2 or 3 projects stacked up so I don't get into your predicament.

Been there done than and ain't going back. I've got beer to drink, meats to cure, cheese to make, dinners to cook and more beer to drink. Pleanty of stuff to keep me occupied :boozing:

I was being a bit facetious, But just yesterday I was talking to a friend and he was relaying a story about his brother and his motorcycle hobby (sickness-compulsion-addiction) to me and was telling me how his brother would amass 10 or 12 bikes or more and then decide it was over the top, too much, not enough room, etc. and then pare it all down to a couple of bikes.
He would then gradually end up with a dozen bikes or more again. Rinse and repeat. I guess he has done this at least a few times now.
I am on my second round and not even close to a dozen. Admitting a problem is the first step. I have not done that yet. Maybe I need to take up drinking.
Hanging out on wildguzzi, I feel relatively rational among the variety of members.

I’ve had as many a 9 and now down to 4. Would really like to be down to 2 but doubt that’ll happen.

These 1st world problems are tough to deal with.

Sounds like it was a good idea to keep the T.

Congrats,

After getting the 850T out of storage and riding it around the block there is a lot to love about it. Im just not sure I am in love with it. Once I get the SP on the road and a few miles on it I can decide better what to do then.

If you get a chance, show us a few side by side pictures. I’m sure everyone would love to see them together.  Big block Round heads are fun to look at, and even funner to ride.
