Lafranconi lower crossover sealing- CX100
« on: March 28, 2023, 09:24:08 AM »
The crossover pipe below the trans on my CX100 is a loose fit to say the least. I previously sealed it with RTV (red/orange) gasket stuff, but it only lasted a couple hundred miles. There are no clamps on the female spigots on the mufflers, looks like the male crossover is supposed to friction fit in there, but my fit is loose. I can't twist or move the pipes inward to seat it any tighter.

I found via search that they are supposed to be O-rings there?? But that seems like a terrible solution and the results of my searches seemed to bear out they dont last long.

What are you doing to seal those junctions?

I have some pipe wrap (the stuff ya'll all hate on cafe racers), I was thinking a turn or two around the ends of the crossover pipe and then wedge them in might do the trick...

I just use the same clamps as the mufflers which you really can't see unless you are looking.
