Yesterday was New Guzzi Day!
« on: May 30, 2017, 06:44:54 AM »
Came about as an aside, not because I went looking for a new bike.
'91 California with the LeMans engine. A good friend bought it new. We chatted about it Saturday and I came home with it yesterday. Needs some TLC but overall I can't be happier!
In addition to the aluminum bags on the bike now, big Givi bags he bought with the bike are included but the mounts are gone so I'll be looking for those.

Congrats...new bike syndrome will kick in any moment...When you say LeMan engine does that mean the bigger valves? Those are seriously HUGELY big saddlebags, a testament to the guzzi attitude of the more the better! Further! Antartica? No problem...

Yep, the big valve 1000 LeMans engine with 40mm carbs!
My buddy had those bags made years ago specifically for his bike. They ARE huge and really cool. I'll have to remove them to fit the stock exhaust on the bike, I think. I doubt the stock exhaust was on the bike for even a year.

Thanks! I swapped out the heavy shocks on it (it had a sidecar on it for a while) for the original Konis, which lowered it a bit. That Corbin seat on there is comfortable, but at 5'11" I can barely flatfoot when I straddle it. That seat is TALL.
Next up is to put the original exhaust system back on and pick up some of the mounting hardware for the Givi bags which came with it.
