1979 1000 SP project

<< < (6/6)

Antietam Classic Cycle:
To remove the lock, first remove the cover by prying under it at the pivot point with a thin-blade screwdriver or something similar. Once the cover is off, use the key to remove the lock. If it's jammed in there, use a large punch and hammer to punch it inward, that breaks off the tiny screw in the lock and then it will come out.

great project ! i love the old 1000SP.
just as a side note, with the current cafe racer craze , lot of 1000 SP get the cafe racer treatment , so if you ever want to restore the bike to original spec this is the time to collect the original bodywork...
i just picked up a spare set of bodywork for my le mans 2 for next to nothing.

Well, it's been almost four years since I last posted.  In that time, I have moved to the west coast while the Guzzi stayed behind unfinished. I'm not going to be able to complete the project so I will be selling it.
The bike has the engine and transmission back in the frame and the wheels are on. I have a box full of new parts from M.G. Cycles and all the pieces are organized and labeled.
The bike is located in central Massachusetts, and I will be in that area for a while during the month of April if anyone is interested. When I get there next week, I will post some pictures and details including what new parts there are.
I hope you've all been well!
Mark
