The latest Mess of Barnfinds just arrived.
« on: July 18, 2016, 08:42:21 PM »
Not mine, dropped off by a customer today. I'm supposed to make something out of this mess...

'74 850-T: crashed and left for dead. Good only for parts IMO.

'71 Ambassador: electrical fire, then abandoned.

'67 V700: only one with a title. Disassembled to replace a throw-out bearing. I think they went just a bit too far.

Taking inventory of the loose parts from the V700. Lots of stuff missing or unusable.

The `71 civilian Ambo. looks worth saving.  The rest, no.

Work your magic Charlie. :thumb:

Wax on, wax off.

I think Mr roper would describe it as "munt".

Munt is being too kind.

Having said that I'm sure that out of the three Charlie will build some beautiful things.

You could shock him with a quote of 20 grand, 2 year wait or an offer to help load it back into his ute.

Fortunately, Charlie has a couple "regulars" that would say "Okay, let me know when it's done".

Tank shape on that 850 T sure looks like new V9s...heck it will all polish out, with about $20K/bike...

I'm not sure where this will end up. I get the feeling the customer thinks I can build a roadworthy machine out of all of this "munt" for about half of what it will actually cost. His best bet would really be to sell it all off for whatever he can get and use that towards the purchase of an Eldo that has already had everything done (Perazzimx14's).

Are all three from one owner?

Yes, same owner "accumulated" all three. He also has an '86 Le Mans 1000 and a Benelli 750 Sei. I sure hope they've been taken care of better than these three, but I fear they haven't.

No, not Lon, owner's name is Alan. Lon was mentioned in the conversation yesterday by way of explanation why Alan's Le Mans nearly burned up.
