I am going to try and be there the 20th. I will be on the way to see my daughter and son in law in Manhattan Ks. This will be right on the way. I am not a big poster on here, so don't know anyone. I'll be on my Quota. Scott.

Hopefully we can get a roll call of who will be around on the 20th.  I'll be somewhere between Denver and Cripple Creek on Saturday, the 20th, so won't be around the KOA until midday Sunday, the 21st.

Looks like Dusty will not be making it, so we need to find another "camp host"!

I would be in.  Here is a link to the ride event hotel.  There is also a Sports Bar (Sporting News Grill) attached to the hotel.

Hey LongRanger, can you have a talk with the Colorado weatherman before next weekend?  1000 miles is hard enough w/o extra cold and rain....or frozen rain....or snow.....

Me too!

That doesn't sound too bad, but Rocker and I are also worried about the 999 miles and various high passes that the Colorado Classic 1000 route will cover before we ever get to Cripple Creek  it won't be that warm at times when the night riding arrives

I was underdressed last time and got pretty cold in the last few hours of the ride.

Now I'm worried that my new Olympia 1-piece may be too warm!  At least it's waterproof and I won't have to carry separate rain gear this time.  In 2009, we had to put on, take off, and put on rain gear something like four times during the ride.

Looks like Marcia and our dawg will be coming along.  We'll be in Cripple Creek Thursday Night, then I'll ride up to Denver alone on Friday.  And, will be riding the CC1000 solo.  We're still planning on being at the KOA through Tuesday Morning.

The Sport 1100 hasn't seen Colorado since 1999, so I'm looking forward to sampling its performance at altitude with the FCR41 carbs and full Staintune that its acquired since being out there last.  Right now it's returning mid- to high-40s fuel economy, so I'm not planning on messing with the carbs.  Hoping I can maintain at least 35mpg at elevation.  5-gallons of gas in the tank, so 150-160 mile fuel stops should be easy.  There will be a 1-gal Rotopax fuel cell in my tail bag, just in case!

Great....  Tropical Storm Bill appears to be setting up join us on our Arkansas>Colorado part of the trip Thursday.

Looks like Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri will be getting soaked over the next few days.

I'm not looking forward to driving a couple hundred miles in that kind of rain, but those are the breaks.

Okay, looks like I can make it Sat to Tues. Is everyone in cabins(share?), or are there any campers?  Was going to head to Utah this weekend but not going to spend 300 miles on the highway at around 100 degrees.  Cripple Creek weather this weekend looks good.  :azn:

In Dodge City tonight. Left early to beat the rain. US-400 is a nice road!  1st time I've been on it in 12 years, and have never run the whole thing.
