I think I stand corrected...if one digs a bit you can find these amazing bikes. Reflecting on my brief time with these bikes, I went from zero V11's to two of them in 5 weeks. Looking at a 2000 V11 Sport right now. So while I believe I'm done (for now) with the acquisition of V11's I'll always be looking to see what's out there.
OK...I'll check it out. But I can't find it. Looked on Cycle Trader, eBay, Craigslist (Atlanta). If anyone knows where it is please let me know.
PM Guzzisteve. Sounds like he has the lead.
Still looking? In ATL area, a Coppa Italia may be for sale. Owner was looking to have it serviced before sale.
Here's a Coppa for sale in Portland ORhttp://portland.craigslist.org/clc/mcy/5137009055.htmlsnip
Installed medium valve heads and pistons (44/40mm vs factory 46.5/39.5)
PM sent. Just got home from doing a service on a Stelvio, worked 7 days this week again.Coppa's are some of the best V11's made, bout like a BillyBob but better componants. Not listed anywhere yet but on our Forum here in GA.
Rosso Mandello had the single plate clutch.
And the Tenni!
a few more and Indiana will corner the market on these things.
Congratulations. Shame about the fly & ride not working out for. And Yes, pictures please.Mal
Hey guys,I'm looking at a 2000 V11 Sport. Trans recall done no rod bolt issue. Thought having a red frame V11 would be a nice addition to my '03 and '02 LeMans. Anyone care to opine on the red frame V11's. Thanks!
What I'm really enjoying about the V11 is the rawness with an overlay of a somewhat modern chassis and really good brakes. Just a hoot to ride and an overall simplicity and ease of maintenance plus fantastic aesthetics that just add to its appeal.
Yeah...that screen name. Its left over from several years ago when I had BMW motorcycles and cars at the same time. Actually goes back about 20-21 years ago when I signed up an AOL account in 1994. Had two BMW bikes an M3 then. I've had BMW's most of my life so the name stuck.Been BMW free since 2010 when I sold my M3. I should move on to a more relevant name.
The Greenie is just a *really* good looking bike to my eyes. That said, the Scura or Rosie would spank it in the twisties. (Lowryter content)
OK...you guys have me doubting my thought of getting a V11 Sport. I really don't need another V11 but since I got into these bikes so late in the game I find myself wanting to scoop up a few. I've never in the past ever wanted more than one of what I was riding at the time. These V11's just appeal to me in a way that other bikes have failed to in a long time. What I'm really enjoying about the V11 is the rawness with an overlay of a somewhat modern chassis and really good brakes. Just a hoot to ride and an overall simplicity and ease of maintenance plus fantastic aesthetics that just add to its appeal. I agree that I probably should look more in the direction of a Ohlins equipped bike. That way I would have the best combination of engine characteristics and a really good chassis/suspension set up and the more than capable Brembo brakes...the best of a V11.Maybe I just should try and find a '04 Cafe Sport? I think I'd rather have a handlebar equipped bike next. While I can ride my '03 LeMans without much effort I do find after 75-100 miles or so I'd like to be sitting up a little more. Plus...I think the Cafe Sport did not have the single plate clutch issue. But...a RC or NC would be a sweet bike.
Hi, GuzziDavid Now you're gettin' somewhere! Nothing wrong with early V11's, particularly if you like the look (and the greenies are especially tasty). However, you do already have two with clip-ons, and with the stated intent of getting a bike with a bars, you might want to focus on one of the later, special models. These have great suspension, and probably most of the bugs worked out. The Caf Sport is a great choice, but a Coppa Italia is just as good. The only thing that some people don't like about these later bikes is that the headlight is frame-mounted, and protrudes forward more than the fork-mounted version. That, and the color choices are limited, so you have to like them as they are.Best of luck!http://portland.craigslist.org/clc/mcy/5137009055.htmlShaun
(clutch, they have the single plate clutch?) Coppa Italia.
No. They were the last of the breed (the last of the REAL Guzzis) before Aprillia, Piaggio, etc. and are as sorted from the factory as Guzzis get.
