Radar Detector JJ...think we had a long thread on this a while ago!  Solo S3 runs on batteries...no wiring needed...right there where you need it on a RAM mount!

Besides..you're used to speed traps in places like Show Low...thought you had your eyes/ears peeled for these types of issues!

Hi Paul!!  How are you and thanks for yanking my CARROT!!!

So this week, I will have to SIT in front of my laptop for four (4) hours taking a silly Arizona Defensive Driving School course so I don't have to pay $170 and get 2 points on my license and then have ALLSTATE call me telling me they are raising my insurance rates!!   That's nice....

YUP...and we always do a PIT STOP at the SHELL station...and the trooper was just past there on the right!!    I was last in a line of 5 cars, all doing about 60 mph......and I was just following the traffic.....  That was nice....

I was actually doing 62 mph and he wrote me up of 55 mph...so there was some conciliation to the mishap!!

Hey JJ...before you waste, I mean enjoy those 4 hours this weekend, have you looked into whether you have Deferred Adjudication in Arizona?  Would save you the time, but not the money...and depending on the county, it's either 3 or 6 months without another violation, and this "incident" will never show up on your record.

Since this is offered here in Houston...thought you might check if it's offered in Sedona too...Coconino or Yavapai county...can't remember which one is the right county up there.

The joy of those 4 hour courses on line is you can't just click click click thru them at a high rate of speed, they seem to be timed so you have to actually spend the full amount on each screen.

Cheerio!

I can't believe some of you other Guzzi Geezers still haven't figured out the last place you should speed is thru a next to nothing 'town'.      For that short period of time I always play their speeding game.  It's the main way they can get revenue to pay for their services. :azn:

It's over now...6 hours (5pm-11pm) last night in my hotel room...NOT four (4) hours...due to slow, painful Internet connection....DREADFUL!!! Cost was $220!!

AZ Wayne is correct...one needs to really watch going through these small, snoozy little Arizona towns with 45 mph posted speed limits...and especially at the END OF  THE MONTH!!  Quota time!!

Yes...the 45 mph signs are clearly posted...and YES!!....I was cruising at about 60+ mph behind a line of five (5) cars "going with the flow"...and FLAPPING with my buds and not being...."ATTENTIVE!!"     ...and the penalty?!?  $220 for the online Defensive Driving Class....and 6 hours (not 4 hours) of PAIN.....due to a slow Internet in my hotel room....That was nice....5pm-11pm....

All designed as "torture" to be PAINFUL and DREADFUL!!!

The DPS officer, however was very professional and only wrote me for 55 mph in a 45 mph zone...I was clocked at 62 mph!!

Had I been on my bike or driving solo...I am sure I would have been...."more ATTENTIVE!!"

Ahhhh.....the semi-retired life.  Attention span getting shorter.   Just your luck to be the last in the line up.  The DPS officer can't pull everyone over and cite so the last one gets it.

Except sadly...I am not retired (yet) and took a full-time job Dec. 11th!!    I was on two day "furlough" as a group of us have been going to Vegas every year for >20 years!!

Yes, I was the last of a 4-5 car line-up...and frankly speaking...I was just following the others, who clearly were going the same speed as me...(about 55-60 mph) "going with the flow"...and I was the unlucky one who got nabbed...

Oh well...if that is the worst thing that will happen to me in 2018...it's just fine with me!

Driver's Ed. class is the deferment.  Kind of like probation but for moving violations.

Yeah...I get that, but it's different from Deferred Adjudication which is a court process, not a Defensive Driving course. Two separate, mutually exclusive processes.  Under deferred adjudication you don't have to take the defensive driving course...you just pay the fee which is equivalent to taking a defensive driving course, and then wait the required 3 or 6 months dictated by the county.  If no further infractions in that time, then, the incident doesn't show up on your record...

I just don't know if that is offered everywhere...at any rate, I'm sure JJ enjoyed his 6 hours!

For a Type-A, high-energy, OCD, impatient person like myself   ...you have no idea how PAINFUL those 6 hours were Monday night...

Again, it should have only been four (4) hours, but thanks to a slow Internet connection at my hotel, 2 more hours of PAIN were inflicted...

...and my sympathetic wife just said:  "That's what you get for flappin' you gums and not paying attention!!!"

That's nice...

Totally get what you're saying but if it's still handled the same way.  To be eligible for the deferment, JJ would have to go to the DDC which is court approved or ran by a gov. body.  While mutually exclusive, the tie in would be that you need the DDC if you want the deferment.  The court can do whatever it wants but I doubt they grant a deferment without the DDC.

Actually, deferred adjudication works differently than that.  You pay the fine, but you don't do a Defensive Driving course, you have to then not incur any additional infractions during the period the court sets (can be 3-6 months depending on the county).  if after that period of time, you have not had any further infractions, the citation is dismissed...so it never appears on your record.  The financial equivalent of paying the deferred adjudication is very similar, although it can be a bit more than the DDC...but at least it saves you the painful 6 hours of internet time or the 8 hours of class time of a DDC.

:)  Check your local state/country requirements...they do vary, but the concept may still apply.
