Title: Harbor Freight motorcycle lift table coupon? UPDATE
Post by: Antietam Classic Cycle on December 26, 2014, 04:11:38 PM
Want to buy another or two, has anyone seen a sale coupon in any of the magazines? I have a 20% off coupon which will drop the price down to $344, thought maybe I could get one even cheaper. Squeezing my pennies so hard Abe screams...  ;D

Alternatively, does anyone know of any used motorcycle lift tables for sale, under $500? I'll also be looking for a larger air compressor (60 gal. or larger vertical tank, 11.5 cfm @ 90 psi min.) and a media blasting cabinet. Would need to be within 100 miles or so of 21779. Thanks.

You can still get it for $299. I saw a coupon the other day. Lemme do a search.

you could try putting up a wanted in Craigs list (in the f/s section) just label it WANTED in large letters.

There's a full page of coupons in last month's Cycle World. The lift is on there for 319.99. Coupon is good through April and the one I have says limit of four. So I guess you can get 4 at that price with one coupon. I'm using mine tomorrow or I'd send it to you.

Checked some jan 2015 bike mags i had  and see coupon is now $319 . Saw it in the harley thunder press for the same price. Did find some older mags from summer time at $299 but they expired in about 4 months from date of magazine.

Is there any way either of you could scan it and email me a copy? That way you'd have one and so would I. Or I might just stop by a bookstore tomorrow (supposed to be a nice day, should go for a ride anyway) and see if I can find it in one of the mags.

Like Foto says, try CL. Found one for $200. Guy dropped his bike first time he used it and sold it pronto.

I'd give you a media blast cabinet, but I don't meet the 100 mile rule..

Charlie,
Having seen what you can accomplish in your tiny corner of the shop, I can hardly wait to see what you can do now that your brother is moving to the west coast and you have the whole place to work your magic. :bow ;-T
Congratulations and Happy New Year.

Charlie, a friend picked up a HF lift a few months ago, it was his second. It was not made the same as the first one he had or the two I have, all HF lifts. The first time he lifted a bike, his Ambo I think, the lift collapsed. The bike was unharmed and when he went to exchange it the second one looked like the earlier ones and had a Pittsburgh label on it. Check it out before you put something on it. Just say'n.

Mine had a missing nut, and I had to fill and bleed the cylinder. Other than that, it's been solid.

Congrats Charlie, your area of the country is lucky to have someone like you to take their vintage bikes to...I have three of the lifts, all have been fine with no problems at all...

Already tried that. Found two good ones, both sold before I could get there. Found a crappy one (Handy?) for almost new cost, no rear wheel drop-out. Have had a bunch of friends on the look-out too and nothing has turned up.

What "collapsed" - hydraulic failure, bad weld, faulty hardware? I've looked at what HF is selling now and it isn't the same lift I've used successfully for the last 8 years. But, I know of several of the newer ones in use and none of the owner's have any complaints. HF has two on the website - look identical in the photo, but different item numbers and reviews aren't as good for one.

I'd like to buy something better quality and Made in the USA, but at this point I just can't afford it with all of the other stuff that is sucking money out of my bank account.

There is a $319 coupon in the new Motorcycle Classics and it has a article about and a Guzzi on the cover. ;D

My friend Carl just emailed - he has the coupon, so it looks like I'm set.  ;-T

Anybody coming east from Indiana that could bring a media blast cabinet with them?  ;) Thanks anyway Chuck!

I bought a HF lift a few months ago.I hesitated thinking it would be a piece of shit like many of their other tools. But it seems  good and very stable.....With a 370 pound Triumph on it... PetrusRocks on this site had his Cali 2 bobber on a HF lift and said it was dandy.

Charlie, as far as I know, it was a structural failure. Supports simply folded under the weight of a convert. He exchanged it for the model we are all, used to seeing and it's been fine. I just read some of the reviews, model 69904 has several bad reviews stating the support bar bent when putting the lock bar in. The other had complaints mainly about hydraulic pump failure. I have 2 HF lifts in the shop and they have been trouble free.

The reviews recommend buying the wheel chock too. Which one? I need to get a lift for my new garage.

This is the one I put on my lift - drill some holes and didn't use the front cross bar.....

"3 Day Only Sale" going on this weekend, so I bought the lift and a bunch of other stuff today. Didn't think they would use the 20% off coupon on the lift, but they did. Final cost: $236.60.  ;-T

I bought a pair of 5 drawer tool carts ($99.99 ea. with a coupon, even better than the 3 day sale price of $119.99), a blast cabinet, wheel chock, two moving dollies, a hand truck, 16" slip-joint pliers, anti-fatigue mats for next to the lift, some gloves and got a magnetic parts bowl free.

Found a very nice, slightly used Devilbiss air compressor too. A friend bought it at auction for $700 and is selling it to me for the same. 6.5 hp, 80 gal tank, two-stage pump, 18 cfm @ 90 psi. Cost about 2 x that new.

Bought a massive 8" bench vise (on Wal-Mart's website of all places) for $187 with free shipping. "Pony" brand, good quality, seems as good or better than the same sized Wilton for about 1/2 the cost. Farking thing weighs 50 lbs. UPS driver and loaders are probably cussing me.  ;D

What's going on Charlie?  Building a new shop or expanding the old?

Long story short: Been sharing the shop with my brother since my father passed back in '81. Brother has purchased property in La Pine, OR and is moving (almost) all of his stuff out there. So, I guess you could say I'm "expanding".  ;D

It's not like he won't be back to visit. He's leaving his Ducati 907ie here and not for me to ride.

Hmm, do some research on "Adverse Possession".....  you MIGHT be able to make it work in your favor ...  ;)  :D

No need, I have my own Paso. His has all that new-fangled stuff like liquid-cooling and fuel infection, mine only has E. I. E. I. O. Darn it.  ;D

Charlie,

I need a good bench vise.   Would you mind posting the link for the one you got?

Thx,
Jay

The price jumped $16 since I ordered, but here it is:

http://www.walmart.com/ip/Jorgensen-Style-No.-30000-Heavy-Duty-Bench-Vises-8-adjustable-heavy-dutybench-vise/17238124#about

The add is misleading - there's nothing "Jorgensen" on any of the packaging or the vise itself. Everything says "Pony". Made in China, of course. It's also orange and not black.

They're on Amazon too, for $165: http://www.amazon.com/Jorgensen-30808-8-Inch-Heavy-Swivel/dp/B0015YN7M8
