74 Eldorado - who rebuilds heads?
« on: May 18, 2022, 08:27:55 PM »
I would like to have the heads on my Eldorado looked at and rebuilt as needed. I searched here a little and found Randy Long in PA. Anyone else have GUZZI knowledge machine shop they can recommend?  Or will a good local shop be able to do the job? Ned’s did (or sent out) the ones on my T years ago but I can’t catch Jim at the shop.

Thanks.

You can send them to me. But really, any competent local shop should be able to do them.

Jim at Ned's is winding down, close to retirement. He is playing it by ear and is still around, will miss him when he finally pulls the trigger  :boozing:

My local machinist has done great work on two sets of Tonti BB heads as well as Commando heads. A relationship with a good machinist near you is very rewarding.

Depending on where you’re located, give ACE a ring he does headwork on the 1100. I’m sure the eldo would be in his wheel house.

Charlie can certainly help you, not sure where you're at. Used to tell folks to go to any VW shop...but those are getting thin on the ground sadly.

Always been happy with Memphis Motor Werks (Leo Goff was my contact).

https://www.memphismotorwerks.com/

Vech (Bench Mark Works) sent me there.

They quote upon receipt of your heads .
They turn around in about a week from your acceptance.

They've done BMW and Moto Guzzi heads for me.
Very satisfied with the quality of their work.

Like they say "good, quick, cheap, pick two".
MMW is good and quick (their pricing is commensurate with the service they provide.

Like Charlie said, any competent local shop should be able to handle it. Are you bringing new guides, valves, etc?

This shop in Athens, GA, has probably the best rep in North America for air-cooled:
