1200 Sport Throttle Cable Rerouting
« on: July 14, 2018, 01:09:15 AM »
Hi All.
2013 Sport ABS with pull back bar risers.
I'm looking at rerouting the throttle cables to try and alleviate 3 issues.
1. There's a bit of throttle snatch just when I don't need it.
2. It tends to increase revs at idle when turned hard left.
3. It doesn't automatically return to idle when turned left unless I do it myself.

I did this on my Breva 1100 without an issue, but on this there's just NO adjustment to release the cables sufficiently to disengage the cable ends from the hand throttle unit.
See pic.

So I've removed the tank to see if there's any movement there. Doesn't look like it.

So what's the secret? OBTW I do know I have remove the throttle unit etc etc. Already tried this once you see.

Sounds like the risers have stretched the cables too far. You could try unclamping the bars and sliding the throttle grip off to create some slack.

Yes I've already done that, it makes no difference.
Thanks

If I understand correctly, you want to remove the throttle drum from the handlebar so you can reroute the cables.  You can do it that way, but if this is the setup I'm looking at in the book there's a much easier way to get started.

The other ends of the cable sheathing should come to an end at the upper side of the left throttle body.  You might have to take a cover off to see it.  The sheaths are held with a nut.  Remove the nuts and the ends will slip out, allowing you to disengage the cables.  Then you can easily do whatever comes next.

Haha.  That's exactly what I've done Rodekyll. Bit of pushing and pulling and we're all good.
Thanks
