prices on 850-T

Seven years ago I bought a very rough and ratty 1975 850-T for a little over $2K.  It wasn't going back to stock since some parts were missing and others were no longer usable.  I stripped it down to engine out of frame and rebuilt it into a cafe style with new electrics and rubber bits and service as needed.  Dual front discs also (not shown in this photo).  I still love it but have been ready to pass it along for a while and considering selling.  Would like to get a reality check as to the potential value at this time ($US).  I suspect that I won't get back what I have in it.

This has been a common thread from time to time, so I have an idea of the likely range.  But things are fluid and this Guzzi will be unique to many others, so asking the question.  Desirability will likely continue to fall to a small subset, yet there are not that many floating around either.

Always hard to say with custom bikes.  I bought an 850 T3 that was in rough shape, did a ton of work on it, made the bike I wanted.  Rode it for a few years and sold it for $6K (ebay).  This was maybe 4 years ago.

If you did the cyl & motor too LOOK at JBU's price, custom bikes are not cheap. Add up what you have in it not the bike you bought. Don't sell too cheap unless you really need the cash.

Yes, anything custom is polarizing; I certainly built this for me and to my tastes, and especially after the hours put in did not plan to make anything on it.  Parts, chrome and paint on top of original purchase price should be reasonable $ and essentially break-even.  I'd probably be ok with that.  But I do still like having it around (cash is not the issue; wife's 3 bike max rule means if I want to get another track bike something has to go....).

Nice choices and work based on the picture.  It’s really hard to say with Guzzis what they are worth. To the right buyer it should be worth between 5 and 7 I’d say but would love to be wrong. Good luck.

So, if it is all sorted, clean title, turn-key bike, (aka, "needs nothing"), I would agree with Scout 63 at the $5K-$7K level all day long...    Some recent examples on BaT...

So, if it is all sorted, clean title, turn-key bike, (aka, "needs nothing"), I would agree with Scout 63 at the $5K-$7K level all day long...    Some recent examples on BaT...

Both of those are far from original though...

Any bike is worth what a willing buyer will pay.If someone stole your bike you could show the hagerty estimates and probably get paid by your insurance company.The BAT actual sale prices would be good evidence of fair market value as well.Most of the posters here are too cheap to pay those prices but that is irrelevant incoming up with FMV as opposed to anInsurer like hagerty that has data to support its estimates.

I think HAGERTY has the vintage / classic car market dialed in pretty well...but I question their expertise on vintage / classic motorcycles....(just sayin'...)

The tank was stripped of paint and crudely hammered in by PO. Very crudely. Was completely unfinished and asymmetrical. I actually liked the idea but not the execution. My paint guy was able to shape and fill to nice proportions b4 paint. I love it and knees like it better than cylinder contact too!
