my 25 year old son visited home while on leave from the navy
he, of course, rode my bikes while he was here and he rode my V7 the most
he commented that the bike seemed to do everything just fine
I told him that I am looking at the new Triumphs and may trade the V7 and to my surprise he protested.
he thinks the bike is a  keeper. He has a Triumph Street Triple and a 650 BSA
he could have chosen my Triumph Bonneville T140, BMW R80, Triumph Tiger or Triumph Thruxton while he was here and he rode the V7 the most

My 29 year old son would have chosen the V7 out of that bunch, so maybe there's more than we thought ....

Don't trade the V7, trade the Thruxton on the new Thruxton or Thruxton R!

drlapo,  what year V7 you got?  I wonder if he's impressed by the new version engine or feather touch gear change or customization choices.

Over and over I hear that the classic style is what older riders are after but if a younger rider is catching onto the versatility of the V7 bench seat along with the fact that the bike is light enough for most anyone to pick back up if it falls then maybe MG has a winner that they need to more aggressively market.
I noticed the Honda CB1100 at 540lbs and 11k out-the-door and know why they have so many left-over brand new 2013/2014 bikes offered. They can't compete with a light on its feet V7.   (http://powersports.honda.com/2014/cb1100.aspx)

My V7 is a 2013 single throttle body special
He did comment on the long throw of the shift lever : he didn't like it
He just thought the bike was very "universal" i.e. it does everything asked of it
