Got cap off. Pretty clean. Do I call it good, spray some deoxit and pack a little petroleum jelly in it?Or is there something on the other side of the white terminal disc that should be looked at?
Dielectric grease. Vaseline melts at 37C / 99F; and on a suitable wick, like a cotton ball, (or fabric insulation) makes a handy fire starter.
Kingoffleece said "Deoxit is fine stuff", ChuckWhen I went to purchase some I was confused by the various options availableWhich one do you guys recommend?
Where did you here that nonsense, electricians have been using Petroleum Jelly aka Vaseline on sliding contacts for at least 60 years that I know of and probably long before my time. Cotton balls and fabric insulation on the other hand may not be a good idea. Several of the members who know something about dielectric grease on the other hand are dead against it for contacts.
