Went for a hour long blitz Saturday night. I learned a couple of things. The charging system is not working. 45 minutes in the lights started really dimming, and I didn't dare let her stall, there is no way I could push start this thing. Rear shocks are set too stiff, any road irregularities upset the chassis. All fixable.

Brakes are awesome. I appreciate braking more than I do horsepower. The Harrison Billet 6 calipers with the Foating Brembo rotors and Brembo radial master cylinder provide one finger braking. Tom converted the rear disc to fully floating.

The seat is a stock lemans 1000 including plastic pan with the back cut off and attached to the rear duck tail. Semi stock riding position.

The engine is pulls hard everywhere to 8,000 rpm. Not so hot for low speed tiddling though.

Still working the bugs out. The gas tank developed a leak up top there the new panel was welded in for the recessed filler. My painter is a great guy and repaired it at no charge ( not his fault at all) The alternator that was installed was bad.  I had two other spares. Still shaking her down and finding loose bits that need tightening. The exhaust nuts came loose causing a big exhaust leak that made the bike run poorly and blue flames to shoot out the exhaust. not fun when your foot is next to the end of the tailpipe.

On the positives, she's a total monster that wants to lift the front wheel up in first, and this has the close ratio ZD tranny with that tall 1st gear. Handling with the 16" front is great as long as there is enough air in the tires.

Turin, I came across a video on youtube the other day, almost 100% sure it's your bike during the rebuild phase. Sounded very good, and had sort of a clean "whistle" sound when giving it throttle.. what is doing that, the exhaust or the carbs? Love it!

Really crappy video that's sideways?

The guy adjusting the idle is Tom Hull (Toms Italian tune and Service)  It was hid dad's ( Dave ) racebike.

The whistling noise is actually the gear whine from the front of the engine. You don't here it as much now due to the fairing.  To appreciate it, you have to here it under load. Yowsa!

Yes, that is the video (sideways) - I can't seem to find it again. So those are the timing gears (instead of the chain)? Sounds very smooth overall, nice engine!

Long term update. lots of tuning adjustments have had to be made. She finally starts easily and idles. FCR carbs are a PITA and the big cam and high compression don't help. I'm contemplating changing up the exhaust.
She is fast and the lessons learned on this one will carry over to her sister, the Raceco Sidlow bike.

That exhaust does seem a little short, are you considering going back to duals? If staying 2-1, I'd consider a "Thunderheader" off a Harley setup with an actual functional reverse cone, but you'd have to modify it of course. Probably the shorter ones used on the dyna or sportster model would probably be even better because it's closer in cc. I had a Harley a long time ago, and tried a ton of exhausts at the time, until I was pleased with the tone and performance of that particular exhaust. It actually made a difference and performance increase was real unlike others that were just noise.

Here is some info on them:
http://www.thunderheader.net/tech.php

Thanks for the update and good luck!

Running Conti sport attack 4 120/70-17 up front and a Road attack 3 150/65-18 out back. the 150 had to have the right side of the tire shaved with a plane so it wouldn't rub the swing arm. Fitting the Harrison 6 calipers was a bitch. I expect handling improvements with the rounder profile tires.
