Cape York
« on: February 25, 2020, 03:19:59 AM »
As mentioned in a previous post..
I’m leaving Cape Otway for Cape York and return on July 1st. All the piss weak V85 reports about how good they are tend to become tiresome, you can’t “test” one of these things under 2,000 k over a 4 day period.
The way to find out is to do 8,000 km on one through all conditions. I’d love to go in company with a WG member, but if not I’ll go alone....
Y’all have 4 months... :clock: :bike-037:

Watch out for the bull dust and if you have not gone there before be mindful some of the water crossings would be over the seat if you did not follow the bank.
If you are going to go up the centre its just a dirt road.

I went that route in 2009, from Darwin on the dirt around the gulf, Cape and back including the Creb track in the dark and wet for 8100 kms in total.
Make the most of it as the tar seal will be to the top one day....... I would not do that trip on my Africa Twin for all the tea in China.

On the way home and only 800 kms to go to Darwin.

Enjoy the trip.

When I saw the title of the post, immediately thought of the duke of York song we sang as kids...

Maybe sing a verse or two while you're on your way!

Now what would I do with ten thousand men after being away from Ann for 4 weeks..?
I’ve been up and back in my Hilux 4WD, but this will be different.
I do have access to a Suzuki DRZ 400, but that would be like taking a GS to Nordkapp instead of my Norge, I’ve done both and the GS was like a cheese and tomato sandwich without salt and pepper, or kissing your sister on the lips..
Really easy, but no “spice..”

Enjoy. Watch out for those big toothed lizards at the water crossings.
