Hello, fellow Guzzisti! I saw this in the news today, and thought some here may also like it. Dolly Parton who is now 75, and still looks very attractive, recreated the 1978 playboy cover photo she did , for her husbands birthday present. What a cool and classy gal...A real "American Icon!"

Dolly is the best, patron saint of my little corner of the world. What an icon and a truly amazing person-- love her so much.

My very favorite Johnny Carson bit was when he had Dolly Parton on years ago. Somehow, Dolly made some offhand remark about her "chest" size. Of corse it got a big laugh out of Johnny and the audience. After the laughter died down, Johnny said, "Well, since you mentioned it, I would give about a years salary to peek under there." More uproarious laughter, then after an awkward pause, Dolly said, "Hmmmm...how much do you make again?"

Dolly's a great artist and I have total respect for the way she handles herself. More of today's "celebrities" could learn some important lessons on what and what not to comment on in public. She's a class act for sure!

I watched a documentary about her life a couple years ago, she is a very smart person and an equally smart business person that made her mark in a time when most women in the entertainment business were not taken seriously. After so many years in the spotlight she remains a kind and decent person.

This is almost word-from-word what I was going to type.
You don't spend much time living in East TN before learning that Dolly Parton simply is the kind of person that few people are capable of becoming. She is truly gifted as an artist and has neither squandered opportunities nor taken them for granted. Her Imagination Library free book program is very special.

She is a national treasure !

Totally agree that Dolly is a class act. She has never forgot her upbringing and what poverty is. She comes up with some great lines too.
"It cost a lot of money to look this cheap."
"I know that I'm not dumb and I know I'm not blonde."
"I always count my blessings far more than I ever count my money."

you guys always get out the wide brush ...there is a lot of good newer talent out there that have a class act..

Sometimes I dream of being one of West Plains, Missouri's favorite son's, Porter Wagner singing a tear jerker country tune with the LOVELY Dolly Parton :boozing:

Yea, like Amy Winehouse and Whipley Houston

Honestly- I don't care for her style of music, but I have great respect for her. Actions speak louder than words, and her actions over many years are a clear indication of her intelligence and empathy for humanity.
-
All that.
But....50 years ago, I would've loved to h've seen her in the centerfold.
She's real cute right now For totally different reasons. Class act all the way.

Luap can confirm that Dolly Parton has donated to WildGoose. Dolly is a class person. She has donated million to the folks that lost their homes in Tenn.

thanks for proving my point...Winehouse was a great talent that threw away her life..While alive she contributed to many charities....
I do not care all that much for Parton's music but I am aware of her contributions...

I listen to Amy quite a bit. She was an amazing talent who's life ended too soon. If she's good enough for Tony Bennett, she's goo enough for me!
Whipley Huston?.........rather get a root canal

Cream cheese.

Not a fan of country music, but MS Parton is a treasure.
Of course her embouchure is way off, cuz that's no Tuba.
And she did save her lip gloss. R3~

It was very obvious to those of us that have played Reed instruments that she wasn't actually playing that thing. She is an excellent example of what all of us should strive to be.

She's not much on stringed instruments either. Her nails get in the way. She tunes to an open G and uses one finger bar chords. But I don't care, love her anyway!

I'm fond of her "Trio" album with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BH2VZG5I4Aw

Oh yes! "Hobo's prayer" is an awesome tune. I was just watching some Linda Ronstadt stuff of YOUTUBE the other night what a voice!
I've met Emmylou 2X she's a really SWEET person!

I agree on Linda Ronstadt , one of my favorites of hers is "Canciones de mi Padre". Its all Spanish songs, and even though she does not really speak Spanish fluently, she sure can sing it!

Yes sir, that’s a good one!

I dislike both types of music: Country and Western, but Dolly strikes me as a class act regardless.

This has been on my my mind for some time now: Was Dolly under the impression that WG is a wildlife rehabilitation organization?
There's a 9 part podcast out now called Dolly Parton's America that explores her near universal appeal. She's truly one of a kind. :thumb:
