I replaced the tires on my 2008 Breva 750 with Michelin Pilot Street. the rear tire looks so weeny. I assume 130 mm is 130 mm, but I've had other bikes with 130 and they appeared so much wider and the take off was wide looking as well. When I look at the bike from the back it looks anemic.
Looking for suggestion on a brand that is a full or greater than 130mm. Recommendations please.

Skinny is good if you like good handling. 130 is plenty for the rear.
I’ve always liked the Michelin Pilot Activ on my 13 V7 Stone. I also liked the Avon Roadrunner AM26 but I think they have been discontinued.

I haven't compared wheel sizes between the B750 and the say, late-model Stones etc. with the cast wheels. Any differences there?!?
Where's Muzz and Sign and the usual suspects that should be chiming in on this?!?

The michelin Pilot is a great tyre and has a very rounded profile. This makes it great for turning in but also gives the appearance that it's narrow. It will be 130mm wide but doesn't look it.

I think Aerostich makes a 250 conversion for small blocks.

Just got back Kev from spending two wonderful weeks in the boonies :thumb: :grin:
The problem with going too wide is that it wont go through he swingarm. Because the Triumph Bonneville sports the same sized tire and therefore tends to be available, I have been fitting the OEM Metzeler MZ2 steel belted radial. It has to go in deflated to fit in the gap. It has good grip, good tire life, and the bike feels a lot more "planted" than the Sport Demon it came with. Other than life on the rear I had no complaints with the Demon. I have only just gone away from them on the front simply because I couldn't get one when I needed it. i ended up with a Metzeler Roadtec, which so far feels ok.

Got 21000km out of the original Sport Demons and probably could have squeaked out another couple thousand. 26000km out of the Avon Roadriders which still had plenty of tread but had some cracking in the tread grooves. Repaced it with a Fullbore which only has 2000km on it. Cheap tire but so far seems to handle just fine. Time will tell.

Got 21000km out of the original Sport Demons and probably could have squeaked out another couple thousand. 26000km out of the Avon Roadriders which still had plenty of tread but had some cracking in the tread grooves. Repaced it with a Fullbore which only has 2000km on it. Cheap tire but so far seems to handle just fine. Time will tell.

21,000kms from a Demon!! :shocked: :shocked: :shocked: I got about 6-8,000 on the rear and about 11,000 on the front.
I went for the last blast to Akaroa today, about 110 miles with a few hills and stuff. I have officially got rid of the chicken strips on the rear at least.... may have some bearing on how the rear wears.. :undecided: :rolleyes:

I found the Metzler Lasertech's, which were the factory tires on my '09 Classic, to be twitchy on dirt or grooved surfaces. Now I'm using Bridgestone Battleax;
front 100/80-80M/C 53H, rear 130/70-17M/C 62H These are low profile tires, and slightly reduce the bike’s height in a painless and easy way. I don't think this size is available anywhere else. Note these are bias ply, which I like (call me a throw-back.).

I wonder if your pavement in the Southern part of the world might be a bit more abrasive than ours up here in Canada. I ride my B750 HARD and really am quite astonished how well tires stand up.

You are right I think Tim. We tend to use quite a coarse crushed rock on our open roads which give good grip but tire wear can be fairly high.

I am absolutely pleased with this tire. Looks great handles great. Exactly what I was looking for in performance and appearance. :azn:
