I have a 2012 Norge with 80,000 miles and the left front disc has three bobbins that are very loose. The washer behind the wave washer on one of them is all bent up. Has anyone ever replaced these? I see ebay sells kits that use eclips instead of the rivet style that is stock.

I had severely worn bobbins and the parent metal on the front rotors of my 08' Norge that at the time had maybe 30k miles on it. See this video:

I replaced both front rotors with compatible ones from a Ducati ST4 from an Ebay seller. There's a limit to how much float there should be with floating rotors.

Wow that’s an awful lot of free play there, my 07 Norge with 45,000 doesn’t move like that. I watched A friend with aBMW LT replaced all his at around 25,000 miles, a few years back, since then I’ve checked and lubed mine occasionally just to make sure they can move and aren’t frozen by crud. A little WD and a tooth brush usually frees the tight ones up. They should turn with your fingers with a little effort.

I am pretty sure those discs are trashed. I have never seen bobbins with that much wear to the carrier. I bet they are noisy as heck!

Could be the carrier that's worn rather than the bobbins? (certainly looks that way in the video link).
I have Brembo HPK full-floating discs on my 916 and they were very rattly and loose, I assumed the bobbins were worn but, actually they were fine and it was the carriers that were worn.
Luckily I managed to source some new carriers as the actual disc/rotors were fine.
If the carriers are alloy rather than steel then this is very likely the case as the hard-anodised buttons are generally harder than the carrier.

Note the size of the hole in the alloy carrier compared to the steel disc/rotor, the Hard anodised bobbins were fine.
You can see the 'tide mark' on this pic of how far the bobbins were floating in the larger opening;

On the other hand, I also have full floating discs on my Monster but the carriers are steel and on those the bobbins did wear - hard-anodised alloy being softer than steel;

I have to say, it's much easier and cheaper to replace the bobbins than the carrier or, worse still the entire disc.

Yeah, it was more the carriers than the bobbins. But I found a decent deal on a new set of rotors with carriers on Ebay. Simple swap, though I had to transfer the ABS ring from my Norge rotor to the Ducati one.

This is what the worst one looks like on mine, and no I didn't try to pry it off. Can't imagine why it would do that.

One theory about them not functioning or becoming warped is according to my BMW friend who replaced his was that dirt or crud had penetrated the space between the holder and the bobbins not allowing them to flex or move as designed. Which is why I periodically go at them with a tooth brush and WD 40 to make sure they can rotate with finger pressure. I have no evidence to prove this theory. But I have found a couple that couldn’t move until I cleaned them out.

My front brakes vibrate a little. 2008 Norge.
I looked at the buttons and they are solid stuck.

Are you sure they are supposed to turn?
I sprayed PB blaster and will check in the morning.
I wish they had a hex shape, so I could stick in a driver.

I install a nut and bolt through the bobbin, spray on some lubricant and spin the nut with a drill.

Timely, I am working on my front brakes for sticky pads at the moment. I checked the bobbins and they were all tight so to check it I too a hand drill and easy out, set to run counter clock wise and gave them all a spin. They all rotate with drill but not easily by hand. I think that is how it's suppose to work, IDK for sure.

if you get a short flanged bolt and matching flange nut, you can stick the bolt thru the bobbin, tighten down the nut (only finger tight), and spin them with a bit driver or a rachet while you spray brake cleaner in there to clean them out and loosen them up

Thanks guys. That worked!
I used a hex bolt and nut. I put a drop of wd40 and then cleaned up
with brake cleaner.
And yeah, they don't spin easily, but they do with a wrench.
It could be my mind, but the brakes felt smoother today.
