Toolin' around on the Convert...
« on: June 10, 2021, 09:43:19 PM »

'76 V1000 Convert, recommissioned last year after having last been registered in 1991.  The V1000 saw limited use during the 2020 riding season.  I aim to change that this year, love the magic carpet ride.

Cheers,
rad__

sweet ride...

I can imagine that is such a relaxed ride, just jump on, go for miles and miles, nice neutral riding position, no gears, no wind buffetting, no stress

nice one

Nice ride rad, what kind of exhaust are you running? Hope to be out there on mine soon.

Thanks Radguzzi. You’re the first person to make me regret tearing the old Windjammer off my v1000. Great pictures.

I know that train station!  Did you complete the Southport Island loop?  Looks great, Rad.

Hey Bruce,
Just the stock head pipes and "H" crossover with a set of Emgo canisters... a suggestion from Charlie Mullendore.  The stock mufflers had developed small holes that made the poor thing sound ridiculous...

These sound great.

Hey Scott,
Not on this run, I rode back through Newcastle and Sheepscot however, that is  favorite loop as well... Never get tires of the Boothbay ride.

Thanks for the reply Rad, I like the look of the emgo, I noticed a hole in my right muffler near the back, so something to look forward to one day  :boozing:

Yup... the inside of the cases fit into that triangle, there are odd cylinder type locks in the top of the mount, pretty neat.

Reminds me of my convert that I put goose neck straight pipes on  it. One night at a campground they sent me out for beer. Leaving the camp was a straight shot up a long hill. When I returned some of the generic bikers said you never did shift. I never told them it was a convert. "Man, I dun thought you was gonna blow that thing up the way you had it wound out." Hey, I didn't want y'all to run out of beer!

Enjoy,
Tex
