Please read (re: Luap’s moderator thread)
« on: June 12, 2021, 11:29:38 AM »
I would like to express my thanks to Luap, and each and every member of the WG Forum for the opportunity to serve as a moderator, and yes I do take this as a position of service to the forum and its members.

I will only be observing the four rules that Luap has in place and encourage members to re-familiarize themselves with them occasionally.
Enough said about rules:)

I do have a couple requests of all members.
Let’s all be mindful of our responses during a post or thread and keep them respectful and present ourselves as gentleman (or ladies) before we hit the “post” button.
If we really feel strongly about an issue with something that’s been posted by someone, take it outside, in others words, off the forum in a PM status.
Lastly, let’s refrain from starting a thread that we know may become controversial and sensitive in nature that may encourage disagreements.
I feel if we all recognize these simple observations there will be very little need for the interaction of a moderator, period.

Again let me sincerely thank everyone for the opportunity to serve such a great resource as the WG Forum and such a great and diverse group of members.
I’m offering my contact information in the event anyone needs to reach out, either forum related or personal in nature.
Again allow me to thank everyone for the opportunity to serve.

Serious congratulations to you Dan. To be offered a position as moderator on a board as good as this, is absolute recognition of who you are regarding integrity and as a person holding a rusted on sense of fair play.
However y’all should be congratulating us members, we are the beneficiaries as a result of your appointment... :thumb:

Since it’s your first day, we might as well get you suited up and started....
I’m starting a thread about a recent ex President who disagrees with the principles of countersteering and would like to put lawnmower oil in his MGS 01. Also should he be allowed an open carry exemption for an M16 on his bike ?...

Seriously again, great insight by Luap. He has acknowledged that you are much loved and respected here mate, history will show you were/are a great choice.....
Now, about that thread....

Yep.
I was watching a thing on the formation of spiral galaxies, most enlightening...!
It occurred to me that the mass of coalescing gas and debris is attracted by gravity and forms a nucleus from which information and life forms. A metaphor for WG members it seems.
Then I got the bad news..
There’s a thing in the middle called a “black hole” from which everything that enters is doomed to eternity...

Perhaps this is a good time to review and reflect.

1.  Let the moderator do his job without pushing it.  He tries to keep it straight so let him do it without prodding him.   I don't see a reason that members should go to the moderator when someone is offended by a post.  A tactful response on the thread should be the first step.  After that, perhaps a PM?  And even if that doesn't solve one's irritation, wouldn't the ignore button be better option than going to the moderator?

2.  Long gone members.  There are some members banned that I personally enjoyed their chit chat, even if I disagreed with them 99% of the time.  The other side of the coin is grief they gave to the moderators time and again.  This could be related to my first point, don't rag on the mods.  If your post is removed, don't make a federal case out of it.  No one wants constant irritation, not even a moderator, and in most of these cases it had gone on for years and with several mods.

3.  If it's not fun anymore, take a break.  Come back when you feel better about things.  I certainly hope we see some of our favorites here come back even after a public spat.   The whole reason we're here is the discussion and interaction.  The more the merrier.  When you take a break and become "merry" again, most of us want you to come back.

Excuse me, I have to go now and chase an elephant out my room.
