So this is a complete longshot BUT ....

In that Online Webinar: Italian Design Day 2021; Moto Guzzi: 100 Years G5 posted about, Mr. Galuzzi inadvertently displayed his desktop computer screen.  A few files are named "REDSHIFT" which I think may have reveled the name for the next Moto Guzzi.

My rational is :

Its now that the designers would aggressively be fabricating the prototype to be shown at EICMA 2021. His latest project would be front and center on the desktop.

Its subjective but IMO its a great name for a bike that is slightly more sporty. Based on the fork angle of the blurred picture in the linked article below.... that's what's coming!
https://www.asphaltandrubber.com/rumors/moto-guzzi-teases-model-100th-anniversary/

Also there is a file named FALCONE  .   The future is so bright I have to wear shades

Interesting post.

Squinting my eyes, the fuzzy image on Galuzzi’s desktop looks to me like an early Monster (or Cagiva Raptor) with a Guzzi engine.  He designed both those so I imagine that he might start there, but the final product will have to be an original design, at least not obviously derivative. The TT was that, and Guzzis first bulls eye out of the box in a long time. It’d be nice to see something less retro than the V7 line and purely street oriented that would hit the target as well as the TT. Time will tell…

My rational is :

1.Got that right.

2.Sure he did, he didn't get to where he is today by been stupid.

3.Off with the fairies.

Seriously If a new bike is coming out August the designers role in its production was finished at least 12 months ago and possibly closer to 24 months. The pre production bikes should be doing trial production runs and the engineers and accountants will be spitting venom at each other over every last detail balancing off not been crap vs costing too much.

Oh, I would love a kind-of re-release of the 1000S!

I don't think that will happen though. At least not anytime soon.
But who knows? Maybe later the new motor will find it's way to some sort of classic looking Guzzi too.

Cheers,
D.

The 1000S is so rare because at the time it was a sales failure.

I know a former Guzzisti who owned and rode a Griso for a long time, and then, SOLD it to buy.... not one...... but TWO (2) Honda CB1100's...and he is a very happy camper!!.

...and here he is at the recent NORCAL Guzzi Rally in Susanville, CA!! :thumb: :boozing:

I don’t get your point.

The Honda didn’t sell well at all, but I’m sure it out some of the 1000s by large magnitudes.

Personal opinions i know but...
  • Hate the rear tire plate mount thing on ALL bike that use this goofy concept.
Weird bumps on the tank sides look like they were lifted off of the Husky vilpilion (or however you say it)... both no form following no function.
Finned scabs on the bike near the goose neck, are just that, scabs. and look like a BMW attempt at "style"
What the crap is going on with the front fender, a bifurcated monstrosity that wont stop debris from fouling any part of the bike.
Not a fan of the Jap sport bike looking "wasp" tail look. but it's been out there soo long, i understand that other may see it fitting
I do like the non painted engine and the muffler in a box concept.
What the crap is the image on the side cover, some kind of stoned ram head skeleton ?
Are all potential buyers going to be able to swing a left over that tail ?
maybe luggage could be designed to fit in the massive gap between the seat and rear tire, good idea right ? keeps the package narrow, and that's a plus

The entire bike looks like a mix of various style types, stirred in a pot with an ugly stick, until congealed, and pooped out...

You should have read reply #12 and saved yourself some wasted time.

The bike you are criticizing was a MG prototype shown about a DECADE ago.  It was never put into production, and it is not going to be.

The 1000S is so rare because at the time it was a sales failure.

The reason for that was that it was very expensive.  The redux of that unsuccessful redux is the V7 they sell now, same concept but made cheaper to produce and sell.  As a result of the lower price the same concept (good or bad) had been quite a successful seller.

I think what likely to be introduced as a street oriented bike with the V85 engine is not going to be a redux of the redux of the redux.  Its more likely to be something more original, like the V85TT a combination of some attractive earlier era design elements with modern functionality.  Just my opinion.

Well, I, for one, kind of liked them. They could have been interesting. If they would sell is another question. Probably not but it would make Guzzi interesting again and produce PR. Have they aged well, I do not know but at least as good as some of its conteporarys. Just my 2cents.
