Windshield brackets needed
« on: July 16, 2021, 08:38:51 PM »
Does anyone have a set of windshield brackets that will fit a standard factory type shield to an 02 Stone, that you would be willing to sell or trade.
Thanks in advance.

Give us a clue what they look like.
Maybe someone can offer a photo.
They are just brackets that attach to predrilled holes in both upper and lower triple trees, with arms which the shield attaches too.
This is the system it has now and unless I can get a shield of this type and drill the attachment holes myself, I’ll need to go with the new attachment system like my 07 Calvin had.
I may not have all the facts about the two models clear. Any input would be helpful.

OK, so are you wanting to mount a factory California Vintage windshield setup onto your 2002 California Stone ?

I don't know what the fitment is on that, but I'm sure that someone here does....

Yea, that looks like the brackets I need if they will line up with the threaded holes in the upper and lower holes on my Stone👍

First off, that is the optional over the counter California Sport Touring shield. NOT the factory "barn door" shield that is common. The shield pictured was made by National Cycle with specific mounts for the Guzzi Cali variants. Desirable and very, very difficult to obtain. National Cycle got stiffed by Guzzi, under Aprilia at the time I think, and stopped making them. They would not even make replacement parts for an end user. I know because I asked once. Basically, it is a N.C. Plexifaring 3 slightly modified. IIRC, the part number was NM0002. (Not certain on the number of zeros.)

So, if you're looking for mounts for the standard factory shield, nothing pictured here was for the barn door. Just exactly what are you trying to accomplish? Do you want to change completely? Is something broken? Are you trying to adapt something?

I’ll give you a call tomorrow John and explain.

I think I have narrowed this down. I need the windshield brackets for the CalVin models.
If anyone has a set they would sell send me a PM.
Thanks

If you have the screen and just need the brackets make them from 1/8" aluminium. First of all cut a cardboard template to pick up the two mounting points on the bike then another template to tie together the 3 on the shield.
Combine the two together and mark it out on aluminium plate (not an extrusion, that's too hard and doesn't like to be bent). Fasten two 1/8" plates together with nuts and bolts to coincide with the mounting holes this. The cutting can be done with a coping saw 18 Tooth Per Inch blades or a bandsaw if you are lucky.
File smooth then polish with a buffing wheel and Red Rouge.
Ordinary painters masking tape is your friend, especially the white colour, lets you draw on it as a guide for your saw and protects it from getting marred.
It will take you the better part of a day to cut that size and you will go through half a packet of blades.
When polished up the aluminium will hold its finish for quite a while.

If anyone has the complete mounting brackets and hardware for a CalVin and   want the complete windshield and brackets that came on the earlier EV models, Stone, Jackal, etc, please contact me for a possible trade of sort.
Thanks.
