ECU differences between a Bobber and Roamer
« on: July 17, 2021, 05:03:29 PM »
Can anyone tell me definitively why the V9 Bobber and Roamer ECUs have a different part number. The engine and maps are the same. The ports are physically the same size. The only functional difference I can think of is the small difference in front wheel circumference so the mileage calculations would be different and maybe the speedo. Anyone know?

AFAIK the only difference is the software. The maps are different. Tables at different offsets, etc.
The hardware version is identical.

The MIU version used is also identical to the one in the VIII.

So, you’re saying they are not interchangeable? I was told by a seller they were but I wanted another opinion before I jumped on it.

No, I'm saying the hardware is identical and therefore interchangeable . All you should need to do is load the correct map. Probably wouldn't hurt to have a copy of the eeprom from the original ECU.
