Very nice guzzi Ram!

Thanks Guzzi Ride it is not the cleanest but that is because the bike is my only form of transport.
Suppose mostly due to the internet.

^You know, more and more, the 100 point restorations turn me off, and the ones that people ride and have signs of use are the ones that I like the most. That bike is just right RAM!

JB,  I am curious as to the make of the bikini fairing on that bike.  Also, did you have to drop the clip-ons to get it to fit?

JB,  I am curious as to the make of the bikini fairing on that bike.  Also, did you have to drop the clip-ons to get it to fit?

The fairing came from Omar's Dirt Track Racing:

http://www.omarsdtr.com/fairnew4.html

I used 54mm "no rise" clip ons from Woodcraft. They are pretty aggressive, I will probably put 1" or 1.5" riser clip ons to get me sitting a tiny bit more upright, as well as taking some weight off the front of the bike.

The stock clip-ons have almost 3" of rise and wouldn't fit.

BTW I also added Woodcraft bar-end weights and filled the bars with lead shot to tame the vibrations.

Also, unfortunately, the original bars are not 7/8", so won't fit any aftermarket clip ons. They are just a tiny bit too small. You could probably shim them but I didn't. It's too bad, as they have big end weights and are solid metal.

Another view:

Thanks Jabberwoky.
Think it's the listed valuations of the restorations puts owners off using them even though all bikes were made to ride.
Although saying that the road salt appetite for alloy sometimes makes me swallow hard.

Lovely
Please post pics after you mount the front fender. I'm thinking of using the same front end on a cx100.
Harry

Hi Harry,
Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Here's a photo of bike with the guard mounted. I bought it from ROC City for around $140 (I think), it's aluminium and it's mounted via 3 stainless M6 bolts to the alloy fork brace. It is lovely and light and even though it's pretty short, it gives good protection in the wet.
However, I would hesitate recommending using this front end though as I have had major hassles trying to get reasonable performance out of it. I have replaced the springs twice (wirth's - rock hard, Ikon - better), new seals, FAC dampers, new axle and new fork upper tubes (not much left to replace right?). The performance is still barely passable. I would advise that you junk these forks and look for something that actually works. You can see how determined I was to get these forks working, but I wished I had junked them from the start and not invested in them. Even though they are just rideable and spent considerable coin on them, I am still considering getting rid of them. My old bevel SS 30 year old forks (Marzocchi 38mm) are light years better than these. Anyway, the guard looks OK!

Very nice. Always wondered what the V7R would look like with bar-end mirrors and without the number plates.  :bow

This is a very good fun thread.
OK I sold my dear old Cali3 as I was a bit over it's lumbering habits and daggy crazing paintwork, though I could never have managed the sacrilege of sanding off that original patina.
Anyhow I bought a beautiful T3 from a very nice bloke in Seattle who got it as it was I think. It's a special with lots of nice bits and I think it's the most beautiful bike in the universe With 40mm carbs, a 1000cc kit and a B10 cam it goes like a raped ape and the Zochis handle like a wet dream. [In a good way.]
