My neeked 1997 California

Oh wow.  That bike (besides the winshield and pipes) is identical to my dad's!  I fell in love with that bike and eventually led to my obsession with the whole marque.  You made my day sir!  So many memories......

It is not as clean now that I have owned it for 18 months and over 20,000 miles.

Are you kiddin'?  Man I don't care!  I grew up on a farm!  My dads bike stayed clean very little.  He took great pride in polishing it and it did look fantastic glimmering in the sun.  But with seven miles of gravel to the next paved road it was kinda pointless to wash it too much.  By far my favorite color scheme for the california line.  Of course I'm biased.  Unfortunately my parents got divorced a few years ago and mom took the goose.  I have no idea where it is.  She won't give it to me cause she knows I'd give it back to dad.  ::)  Oh I miss that bike so.  I hope beyond hope it isn't rotting away in a shed somewhere.

Another 1980 CX100.  Great bike, I use it as my daily 60 mile round trip commuter.  A perfect way to start and end the work day.

Not mine, but a Cafe Sport that  was molested through addition of a ridiculous sidecar for the making of some silly movie and which we later ended up with:

Kev, Thank You, Thank You ,Thank you.  For posting this picture. I had one of those moments of "Eureka that's It" after seeing it and I feel kinda dumb. I was trying to figure out how I would get 3 bikes (3 when the V7C comes in ) and a little 49cc scooter in the garage along with (to keep the better half happy) a behemoth Kia Sedona. The light bulb just went on in my dim brain. Thanks again !

Yes it is a 2 car garage.

Hi Kev m!

Nice photos and collection! :) :) 8) 8)  I thought you had a Road King (?), but I see that's a late model 1200 (?) Sporty there instead!

How do you like it, (now 6-speed / rubber-mounted, etc.), compared to the Road King?

I also like their retro-looking "Nightster" model, but I sure hope they bring that 1200R model to the USA. :)

Kev m -

Thanks for your perspective on the BT's and the CORRECTIONS on the Sporty's.  I also agree with you assessment on the Road King overall. :)

For two-up, long-distance riding / sport touring, the Road King is a very versatile motorcycle and hard to beat, overall.

The 96' cubic inch motor and 6-speed is nice.  8) 8) 8)  However, they are still a bit "portly" at 770 lbs., but you don't really feel it at all, once you get moving.

Over the last 15 years, I have owned Beemer's and Guzzi's and 4 Big Twin Harleys:  '88 FLH-S, '92-FLH-S, '95 Road King, and now my current '07 Road King.

I upgraded to 6-caliper Performance Machine brakes up front, (stock are 4 calipers), which improved stopping power >30%.

I also added a Stage-1 Screamin' Eagle kit - slip-on mufflers (not much louder than stock) and a restrictive air-cleaner.  This is what the local police use on their Road Kings around here. About 8-HP more and you can feel it on the freeways.

The new '09 Road King has the new improved frame (as you have posted and talked about) and standard ABS brakes. You should check this out if you are thinking about a new one.  :) :) :)  Here are my three current bikes:

'07 Harley Road King FLHR
83 Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans-III
78 BMW R100RS "Motorsport Edition"
