Johnr: sorry for delayed response, been off air for a few days.

My island home of Tasmania (26,000 square miles - a bit smaller in size than Ireland) lies off the south east of the Australian mainland. We get a bit pissed off here when our state is omitted from the map of Australia (happens frequently), or when disparaging remarks are made about us being the poor relations of the "mainlanders". So we refer to the great land mass to our north as merely "the other island". Parochial, I know, but without us as an anchor, Australia would have drifted north, and become part of Indonesia !!

Dont forget that you lot marry your sisters and have 2 headed offspring ;D...Bloody Taswegians ::(

Golly - I'll join in with a coke. We must have been lucky - our future queen is from Tasmania - and she's a hot chick  :o ;) ...and very popular in the neck of the woods.
You'll notice that she is holding her latest baby princess Isabella - and she has only one head  ;)

I was pulling your leg Greg.
We sometimes refer to (mainland) Australia as the "West Island" of New Zealand.

Of course I know where Tasmania is. It's actually one of the parts Of Oz I would most like to visit. (Sigh... maybe when I get a decent yacht.... like that will ever happen)

Tasmania? Isn't that where Boag's Beer comes from?
I got a tattoo of Taz (the cartoon character) in Launceston on April Fool's Day, 1997. There's a whole story that goes along with it, but I'll save it for a campfire some time.

My trusty sport..60,000 mi, (a recall for tranny, but it wasn't necessary). Other than that, I've replaced the relays, and a voltage regulator. This bike has seen much of the continental U.S. It has been dead reliable, and opened the door for me to the Guzzi community, (a colorful cast to say the least).

John, I was a bit slow on the up-take. The "East Island" threw me.

I imagine riding in NZ would similar to Tasmania, but perhaps a bit more mountainous, & your back yard is on my long-term agenda. Seems it's quite easy to arrange shipping of bikes these days ( like yachts, it only takes money!). What's the second-hand bike (Guzzi) market like in NZ ? Would that be an option if I toured for a couple of months ?

Just brought it home, everything works ok, needs a bit of cleaning up. The fork crossover pipe is leaking, so the forks don't hold air pressure, but aside from that, I just have to ride it!

After a weekend of riding two-up in Yell County, Arkansas, I've named my Nero Corsa "Little Blackie"   ;D

What is that in Italian?  "Poco Nero"?

In Italian the motorcycle is a feminine noun: la moto or la motocicletta, it would probably translate Piccola Nera, or you can refer to her as Nerina.

Glad someone got the reference!   ;-T

The Fools on a Hill campout is on Mount Nebo in Yell County.  The area where Mattie Ross was supposed to be from...

While riding home Sunday, I was thinking about the scene where Cogburn ran Little Blackie into the ground riding two-up with Mattie.

I'm almost embarrased to admit what my bike's payload was this past weekend...  220-lbs rider, 140-lbs passenger, plus maybe 100-lbs of gear...

"Piccola Nera" didn't lay down on me, though...   ;-T

My new toy, only 140 km old. Screen from Harper's. I have a topbox I'll fit (hate the look but soooo practical) but will leave pretty much standard. I love the twin disc front brakes, the tubeless rims and the overall quality. A bit too much chrome and a fair bit of that is plastic chrome. Still learning to love the brakes and the gearbox but that will come. My first Guzzi.

I love that bike every time I see it.   I'm two "project completions" away from having consensus on "NOW it's time to buy that two-up bike we've been drooling over".   Either one of these, fixed up like yours, or a Stelvio.   I think I need to ride down and see Roger Davis and sit myself and Fay on his Sport and start mocking up footpeg locations and seat changes .....  People say a Sport isn't a good two-up bike for big long-legged people, but we've put 5000 miles on a BSA A10 with Airhawk seat pads and enjoyed them all .... so I think we can manage!

A Lario and Imola II just does it to me 8)

Good luck with the valve job! Lots of info on this board :)

A bellypan is a rare and high priced object :-\
A new one will empty you retirement fond, and a used one is hard to find. For some reason riders seems to bust them ;D

Thanks Lannis,

Everyone is different, but I've yet to have any complaints from passengers on the Nero Corsa.  It's all stock, except for the H+B luggage.

The passenger in the pic is 5'-9" and 140-lbs.  She had absolutely no complaints regarding comfort during the weekend ride.  The ride consisted of a 125 mile ride down to the campout.  A 125 mile ride on Saturday.  A 125 mile ride home.  So, just under 400 miles for the weekend.  We stopped about halfway on all three legs, so it's not like we were ironbutting it, or anything...  Just having a nice weekend ride.

Other passengers I've carried have also had no complaints, either.

One thing you'll need to do for sure is source a stiffer rear spring.

Russell just released a version of thier day-long saddles for sporty bikes, so that's an option.  http://www.day-long.com/new_pages/SportSeats.html

Hi all.

Am enjoying the garage tours.  Here is my '95 Sport 1100 ready for take off on a 1,800 km trip to Brisbane via the Gregory Development Road and Burnett Hwy.

Apart from the road-trains near Mt Garnet it was a very smooth and enjoyable trip.
