Hi one and all!

Newbie here - actually more of a prodigal son having previously owned a v11 Sport and a v11 Scura.
I've had a few years away on other makes (BMW 1200GS and a couple of R1's) when I saw this and it was lust at first sight - one test ride later and she was mine!

She's just coming up to first service and all I've done is put a Termi can on her (Termignoni - Italian V twin - it's just a must!)

Suspension needs sorting to get rid of the Kangaroo back end and the too light front end - but other than that, this is the best fun I've had on a motorbike!

In Italian the motorcycle is a feminine noun: la moto or la motocicletta, it would probably translate Piccola Nera, or you can refer to her as Nerina.

Well, of course it is.
The Zaftig CalVin, for example, has the hips of Sophia Loren and the foglights of Gina Lolabriggita.

Just brought it home, everything works ok, needs a bit of cleaning up. The fork crossover pipe is leaking, so the forks don't hold air pressure, but aside from that, I just have to ride it!

Nice one.  Forget the Sebac dampers and the crossover tube.  The air bladders in the dampers will blow eventually and they're best left with no air anyway.

Do what I did and toss those suckers.  FAC dampers are still available for the LMIV.  I got a pair and a set of Progressive springs from Gordon at MG Cycle just recently.  When I drained the right fork leg it had a lot more oil than the left.... The damper had blown it's seal and leaked it's oil into the fork.  No damping on one side.

Fwiw, the FAC dampers have a schrader valve on top but don't pressurize.  By design they allow the fork tube to be pressurized so your seals better be good.  I don't add air.

I digress...  Beautiful, original LeMans!   ;-T

Well, here's what's kept me occupied over the last few months. It's a 1981 M2 which I bought as a basket case. It's not 100% complete, it needs a splash of paint here and there and a couple of minor things put right, but it's back on the road now after lying un-used for about 20 years. It's not going to be a MK1 clone, I've already got one of those,I like the look without a fairing so I reckon I'll keep it like this. :PICS!:

Golly - wonderfull bikes!!

Which do you prefer and why?
To me the Griso is one of the most "Guzzi" bikes - Guzzi has made in many years.
I know from my brother that the 999 is a mean bugger as he rode one a couple of years back.
He's a Kawa rider.

The 999 is well-modified and is a beast!  Oddly enough, it is actually more comfortable than the older 998s or new 1198s.  I've never had an issue with an aching back or cramped wrists.  It doesn't like to go slow, however and is an absolute blast on the track - which I try to do a couple times a year.

The Griso is comfortable and capable.  It is not a slouch or a "cruiser".  Definitely very sporty - although not quite a sportbike.  Gorgeous to boot!  Can't say I necessarily prefer one over the other as they each have their own unique character and focus.  They're both beautiful machines.  Although the 999 design was a bit polarizing for some, it stands out as a daring design that was one of the winningest race models in Ducati's Superbike line - and it only had a very short model life.  I find its lines beautiful and unique - and pictures don't do them justice - they look even better in person.

Have to agree with you there - went riding with a couple of Ducatti guys yesterday - one on a GT1000 and the other on a 999.

Not a real good photo of the 999, but it is one slick looking motorcycle.  They were out at the California Superbike School all day Sunday.
