Love the old SB NTX's - are you going to restore the basket cases too?

Ice Blue - would love to do something with them.
They're pretty rough. In the back of a shop that got them from who knows where. Difficult to get a straight answer round these here parts at times. They could have been here since UNTAC in 1993 as the bikes are all painted in military olive drab and the age is about right - mine's a 1992. They've all got the same red plastic front mudguard. All have been fitted with a kickstand as well as centre stand. Paint is original and not a local respray as the original decals are still there. They've come from some military unit but not sure which army as emailled Moto Guzzi to ask if they could help with provenance but no response. Including these 2 and mine there were 2 other functioning bikes. They may have been recently imported in a container from Italy as I got mine elsewhere from a man who has connections with Italy - he imports jewellery (although I suspect not in containers) from there.  The guy with the basket cases is  a little unrealistic about price though - wants  $1000 for the pair. There's no bodywork or wheels. Just frames and engines. Will put some more pics up to give you general idea of how far gone they are. Was thinking of getting them and using best one to make a bobber and having the other as spares.

Michael - They have seen better days - surely - a bit sad they have been left to wither away like this. I think a restore is doable though. 1000$ may seem high, and a negotiation might get them lower, but the guy likely places the value on the engines. 1000$ for two mills would be cheap here if they are in a good condition.

There are occasionally a lot of NTX bits on eBay from Italy. Even though they mostly list it locally, they often don't mind shipping to other parts of the world.

These are rare - since they seem like military bikes. Something you don't see every day.
Have fun trying to get them and doing the project.  ;-T

Looks like a nice place to be on a day like that, Rocker.  And a nice bike to be there on, too.

To Iceblue and Gentleman Jim, thanks for the kind words, I'm glad you like the picture of my beloved bike.  A beautiful 29 year old Italian is a wonderful thing to have in my life.

Hi Guys, I've been away for a while....might have put this up before but I just can't remember! Anyway it's a '78 SP (Spada) which I bought in january 2006.

Love it to bits, 49,000 miles up (almost), bought showing 32k. Still on points which are a pain to set up but work well when set right, and have straight cut steel timing gears in place of the timing chain. Don't think I'll ever sell it.

Iceblue - got a copy of Guzziology winging its way to me from the states in next few days. Apparently it doesn't cover the NTX as they weren't imported into America. However, the V65 engine will be the same. Once I've got the book it will be a lot easier & more realistic to assess if I can do something with the old bikes. Bit concerned about the drive side and what exactly is left to resurrect. If I can get the price down low enough I'll see if a mate of mine will keep them in his garage as my mrs would have a fit if she thought I'd spent money on a pair of old rustbuckets.

Is your front fender drooping a bit in the rear (maybe a future fold-up?) or do they all look like that?

I do not think so as it seems to be the angle of the shot.

Must suck to have your eye for beauty . . .  ;D  Designers of the 2011 aprilia Tuono seem to like the checkered flag look!

You completely missed my point.
I didn’t say the Chequered flag motif was a bad idea,

I said

that STICKER painting is the worst job Guzzi has done of any paint work

Taker a look, it's shite, the step down from the sticker to the bodywork is appalling
