Red Elbow fuel connector under tank
« on: April 15, 2023, 08:07:28 PM »
No, I haven't broken the red plastic elbow under the fuel tank but it's just a matter of time.

Has anyone tried this product by chance to replace it?

https://ziptyracing.com/products/fuel-pump-elbow-oem-8000ah2930-gte-fi-husky

I found a link to it on another website that suggested it would work as a direct replacement.

I've read the same part is sold by Ford UK for the Fiesta and Escort but, they are very difficult to find and I would rather install something that is stronger if possible.

thanks
james

Not sure if this is the exact same thing, but AF1 sells an elbow port as well, that they list as a fitment— https://www.af1racing.com/ZT-GTE-FI-HUSKY-Zip-Ty-Racing-Male-Aluminum-Fuel-Tank-Fitting

Also—thanks for the new paranoia that I’ll now have.

That does appear to be the same product and they suggest it fits the full range of V7 bikes as well as many others.

I'll see if I can find the red plastic Ford part first and , if not, I'll buy one of these. Thing is, I don't think the "quick connect" part on the fuel line is going to connect to this metal elbow so I'll have to figure out how to connect it securely.

Unplug the fuel pump electrical connector, then cycle the starter. Will depressurize the fuel line and make disconnecting much easier.

Seems like a good solution.  I would snatch the last one they have in stock.
If anyone has a spare plastic version we could compare dimensions before taking apart the tank.
I wish they sold just the elbow and lowered the price.

The original plastic is also available from your dealer.

But the aluminium one looks good, and looks to survive everything

The aluminum is different in that you need to drill out the side of the pump housing to allow it to stay in place. It will work for some ,and not for others..
I still have one in my parts, and just bought a replacement from AF1

You bought a plastic replacement or an aluminum replacement?  If it was the plastic, does AF1 have those as I can't find them on the website.

I bought both. ended up using the factory style from AF1  It took forever to get the aluminum shipped, and really was not the best one to use. (IMO)
V-7 would not be a good option for Aluminum.. Breva it could work, but just plug, and play for plastic..

Update. Found a UK seller on Ebay that was open to using the Global Shipping Program. Prices were reasonable on both the parts and the shipping. Bought an extra one as a back up.

Thanks for all of the help. The aluminium one looked interesting but after reading a few posts, felt the stock plastic plug and play version might be better for me.

My concern with the aluminum elbow is the need to make permanent modifications, but also on the impact it may/may not have on the rest of the connection. I'd use plastic wherever possible for long term servicibility of the fitting as it is all plastic as well. BLUF: Metal to Metal-Plastic to plastic.

I think have a couple of these in my parts stash. Haven't needed one yet thankfuly.

England has access to the red Ford connectors, and are the exact same as factory Aprilia/Guzzi parts.

Anyone have a source for the quick disconnect adaptor that fits over these red/white plastic elbows?  Do they also need to be replaced often or is it more just the elbow connector that causes the issue?
