Painting the Convert
« on: November 23, 2021, 06:33:21 AM »
Anyone have a custom or unique paint on their Convert or Tonti framed bike/?

I'm going to be tearing down the Convert and sending tank, covers, rear fender and DB Bags out for paint soon. The bike looks good in black, but I have 3 black bikes (Convert, Griso, 1200 Sport). I'd prefer a red Griso or 12S, but they are more complex to disassemble and paint, and the Converts paint is the poorest in quality. Is a 10fer, and looks great from 10' away, but up close is pretty rough for my standards.

I painted my black XS1100 Pearl white in 1990, and it still looks great. Am thinking about Pearl White with Guzzi Style Pinstripes in black, or Irish Green with Gold, but a metallic red, maybe candy apple may look good as well.

I think I posted about this before, but am google search challenged, so am posting again.

My initial thought was Pearl White with double 1"? wide red and green stripes.  But after looking at the bike, I vote for Pearl White with a red pin stripe in the same locations as the stock gold pin stripes.  Black pin stripes would also look good.

Bey Bulldog,
I did not weigh in on the first thread about the choice of paint however, my favorite would be the Dark Green with Gold.
Classy.

The Red would be stunning also, not much hel huh...?

How is it that you have a painted rear and stainless front fender..?  Are staying with that set up...?

Either way, a beautiful motorcycle.

Best,
Rob

I picked up a basket that had tins and saddle all done up in flames, etc. I figured it deserved to be built. I sold it on Ebay. Youtube vid here:

I love pearl white, and there’s many different shades of pearl.  Loved the paint on my ‘09 Calvin.  Pin stripe color is key.

Pearl white with some black stripes will look classy. Have you considered cinnamon brown?

I picked up a spare tank and covers for my G5 since I dented my freshly painted black tank.  Sara doesn’t like white or red.  Of the factory colors the green and the cinnamon are very nice. My mind keeps going back to a light blue for some reason. No matter the color the factory stripes complement the tank shape very well.

If I ever paint a bike I have always wanted an army flat green with a white star on the tank.
If I chose any other color it would be British Racing Green.

I painted my Cal II automatic in Chrysler inferno red, and corvette silver, where it was originally chrome. I love that red, as it comes with a pearl in it, and really pops in the sunlight!

What an absurd question.

Your Covert was designed for police and convoy escort duty, you have no choice:

finally found my pix. Like I said, bought as part of a 3 convert basket deal. Figured it deserved to be built. Not my style, was able to flip on ebay. Hope the guy liked it.
