Looks like a few hundred bikes up for auction, or am I overestimating?

That is the weirdest gas tank I have ever seen on a motorcycle in the 4rth picture with number plate 835 on that Ducati.
Very Daliesque.

Classic Ducati jelly mold tank

Thanks for the info. Of course once you provided me with the name I went down the rabbit hole.  So weird, owned a Ducati 900 SS
for 10 years and love the brand and been around motorcycles now for 40 years and never heard or seen one before.  Saw a couple online
for sale around $1000 and one listed for $2500.......just for the tank.  Gobsmacked.  Now I am curious how they are fabricated but don't
want to hijack the thread so I will bow out with a little more Ducati knowledge than I started the day with.  Thanks again.

FWIW, That’s a stretched and likely aftermarket copy of a jelly mold tank that looks to be at least 6” longer than an original tank.  Earlier this year, a poorly listed but nice looking real Ducati Elite/SS jellymold tank sold for $350 on eBay with two bids.  I never saw it until after auction.  A few weeks later, it was reposted and immediately sold for $1k buy it now.

The bike auction looks good.
But I am waiting to see what Steve McQueen's Porsche 917 goes for.
I am not a billionaire, can't bid.

This is going to be stratospherically past "silly money".   Jerry Seinfeld will be able to buy Porsche from VW after this sells.  Anyone hazard a guess?

Autoweek:  Will Jerry Seinfeld's ex-Steve McQueen Porsche 917 Really Go for $25 Million?

So, you seem to be in the area that the pundits are bantering about.   Gonna be interesting.

Indeed.  There is a VERY WELL produced video on YT regarding this car's history, heritage , restoration, people involved and Jerry deciding that is is time to move this iconic car along.  I think he has owned it for around 22 + years, and I would love to know what he bought it for and how much he spent to totally restore to better than new.  If anyone has any interest, worth watching.

$25 Million.  No Sale.  What is Jerry Senfeld's number for his reserve?  Boggles the mind.  Well that was very unsatisfying for a lot of people.

OK - $25M and NO SALE?!? For a guy that worth $1.1B, that's just greedy...

Couple of nice ones here!

For all the hype of Mecum around the high end bikes, I’ve noticed over the years that some good deals can be had on less trendy bikes.

Yes...there are ALWAYS deals...if you are patient and look around, especially in the "NO SALE CORRAL" with bikes that did not sell over the block.   :thumb:

At that point, most sellers DON'T want to haul the bikes back home, so deals can be made...
