V50 wheel bearing - suffix alphabet soup
« on: March 22, 2024, 04:05:59 PM »
I'm trying to source new bearings for the v50 and per Gregory Bender's site I need:

3 - SKF # 6203-2RSH/C3 - 17 40 12
1 - SKF # 6303-2RSH/C3 - 17 47 14

SKF doesn't (or no longer) makes a bearing in all those suffixes. I can get a J seal (12,000 RPM max) instead of an H seal (19,000 RPM max) but the /C3 (a looser clearance for where heating is expected) is proving difficult. Am I obsessing over the C3 suffix? Can I just use 6x03-2RSJ which are available at NAPA in a day or two?

thanks,
jim

The short answer is yes, they worked fine for me. They’re just electric motor bearings.
