V7III Shift Light
« on: June 18, 2022, 12:25:33 PM »
I have always left the shift light at the break in setting I probably should change that now its done nearly 30.000 km.
What do other owners keep the setting at, 6500 the red-line or higher?

It only goes so high maybe 72-7600.

I've been setting most bikes a couple hundred lower than the hard rev limiter.

Mine seems to go all the way to 9K in increments of 100
But having said that you seem to be indicating higher than I have it set, 7,200 perhaps
From displaying milage hold the Mode button down and it eventually flips to display Shift

What do you mean by the hard rev limiter? the red line or end of scale?

Thanks

Leave it at its original setting.

It'll make you think you're threatening Rossi in even gentle sweepers.

When I inadvertently over rev mine the rev limiter cuts in and the bike starts misfiring  . It's
how one suffers from having a quite exhaust and super smooth motor !   Peter

The shift light is set pretty low from the factory. I can't remember but it is somewhere around 3,800. When I got the break-in  miles completed I reset it to 6,500. I almost never trigger it, I see no need to go that high.

Roy, your motor will not rev to 9k.   I’m not certain of the exact kick in number on a v7iii.  On a 17 v9 it’s 6800, on my B1100 it’s 7700, I expect it’s somewhere between the two.

My 17 V7III hits a rev limiter and you know it. Yours should too.

I set the shift light low at 5800rpm and the shift light hight at 6300rpm, max power is at 6250rpm, the injection cutoff is at 7250rpm.
Initially it is set at 4500rpm and 9000rpm.

I set mine to flash at 4000.  I cruise just below the flash.  It comes on steady at 6000.

Kiwi_Roy, in your signature line you list “Half a V9 Roamer”. Which half and what happened to the other half?
