Arkansas Trip...
« on: June 03, 2019, 02:16:16 PM »
Well Dusty is always wanting me to post stuff up. Went to Arkansas this weekend with a group of guys. Rolled out of Ark City on Thursday night and back in Sunday afternoon. Covered about 1200 miles on the ol' 750 Honda. LowRyter invited himself to eat lunch with me not knowing that we have met before. Small world. Weather was perfect and the bike ran great. Can't ask for much more!

Oark is good fellers, but you should try the catalpa general store a couple of miles past Oark. A little nicer menu imho :thumb:

The pavement stops @ catalpa, then it’s about 10 miles of road that looks about as bad as Barbara Streisand over to 65

Pretty sure I heard a banjo

My phone lead me astray going to Oark.  I never did find the paved county roads from the east off 21.  I rode all the way around to 23 and came in from the west on 215.  I had the instructions written down at one time but lost them.

Next time I'll go a little further up the road and try Catalpa.  Maybe come back the next day for Oark?

Mt. Zion and Lone Pine roads are the paved way between AR-21 and AR-103:

The road from Catalpa east takes you to AR-21.

There are perpetual rumors that it's "on the list" to be paved, so AR-215 would be a through-route from AR-23 to AR-21.

I really wish they'd get it done before I die.  That would really add to the routing options when planning rides in the area.

yep, that's it. Couldn't remember.  In fact, that's the route I took when we met there when I was riding my Bandit and you were on that black Tonti LeMans.

So I had to struggle and ride another 50 miles or on 21 and the pig trail.  Poor me.

They were also having a big music fest in Cass.  Looked like 1000 tents and cars.  Backwoods Music Festival in Mulberry Mtn.  I just did a search about and see there was a copter crash there with fatalities.  And instead of country music it's jam music, like the Dead.

Doubly sorry for the folks that were killed and for not enjoying the music when I drove by.

Had a guy show up at my door running for some county office and told me that his goal was to get all the roads in the county paved.

I informed him that I enjoy riding the dirt roads on my motorcycle and that he won't get my vote.  I'm sure he was very surprised at that reaction.  LOL!

I'll bet he was taken aback.
