Anyone running FCR carbs on their tonti bb’s?
« on: April 26, 2021, 10:40:50 PM »
Has anyone ran fcr carbs on a tonti bb?  What intake did you use?   I have a pair that I’d like to run on my 850 but I’m lost at which intake to use

The fcr’s are 39mm and the motor has raceco heads and raceco can..

The problem is even the side draft FCR is still mounted at to flat an angle with a straight manifold (the pumper base needs to be level to be optimum (imho)
Rubber manifold joiners should be easy and there are various screw in front spigots for FCR's.

(I put 41 FCR's on my 1981 905 Beveldrive (A real Ducati John ) back in the 1990's and had the same manifold problem then but adapted two rear F1 750 manifolds with boots, spigots, jetting from Sudco/USA)

Maybe some of these 40 mm manifolds could be adapted but a machined manifold to suit is going to be way better to suit the rubber boot and FCR spigot.

There are ready made FCR39 kits for the Suzuki DR650, it's one of the best mods for that bike (and probably others), you might have luck checking out some of the suppliers and thumper forums for ideas on what works and what accessories are available, there may be adapters meant for other bikes, that might work for you.

Iirc I think I recently saw a pair mounted on a racing Kawi EX500?

The FCR39 was stock on a few KTM motocross bikes, and Yamaha motocross and 4 wheelers, & others ?; the FCR39 on my DR was a home built kit by a previous owner, I "think" using the carb from a Yamaha YZ450 or Banshee.

I can't remember the fine details, but there are slight differences in the different carbs for different model bikes.

With the advancements being made in 3D printing and materials, is that something that might possibly work for you?

If you could get it to work, your gas mileage would suck, and it might turn into a fussy starter, but I think you'd notice a huge performance difference depending on what carbs you're running now.

        Good luck
