I was looking at the guzzi website at the updated colors of the California 1400 Touring, and noticed the cruise control is different. i've never been a fan of the on/off style cruise control on my MY '14, and the new one looks proper. Got me to thinking: are there other updates besides colors since the 2014 introduction of the Touring?
Any rumors of a new Touring or full dress California?

I Don't know if you consider it an update, but I bought a '17 Cali 1400 and the new controls (mode, cruise control, multi media platform, etc.) have changed the hendlebar controls. I do not believe MG has made a factory heated grip kit with integrated controls for those models yet. I am still in communication with a couple of dealers and they tell me that it due sometime this spring. If heated grips are important to you, ask your dealer about them or consider non-OEM grips. I'm waiting for the factory grips.
BTW, the new Cali is great, I love it, much better cruise, seems more smooth.

Heated grips are important, but aftermarket opportunities abound.
I have heard somewhere that maybe the way the seat attached was different, but that could have been a Stelvio conversation-I don't remember.
With the new cruise control and multimedia, i presume there is a canbus that now controls things. I admit that i am talking out of my neck here a bit, so maybe i'm wrong. would that affect aftermarket pipes? mapping?
The genesis for my question comes from wondering if I can transfer the modifications from my current C1400 to a new one so i can take advantage of the upgrades, particularly the new cruise control. Seat, pipes, lights, grips, rack, windshield mods, etc... all add up on a new bike and i'm not wanting to start over. if i did, i'd start working on a new Indian Chief, but holy gobstoppers that a lot of new money to spend.

There has always been a canbus on the 1400s.

The new one has the euro 4 setup, that means, newer generation ecu, wireloom and dashboard software. And the air recirculation circuit on the exhaust. I can't immagine that there are much other things really changed. Holding two parts lists next to each other might help.
Latest engine map for the 2014 cali is the 1050CA07, with guzzidiag you can load it yourself, if you still have an older one.

Ditto what Kiwi and Paul said about the CanBus, and Euro 4. Also, there are adjustable shocks in rear, hand adjustment. I think the panniers are the same. As far as other things:
1) I noticed no difference in the seat or how it attached.
2) Pipes should work no problem.
3) They eliminated the toggle light switch for the front outboard lights, that function is now integrated into the handlebar light switch. Any other lights you might install will probably need their own switch. There is still a rubber plug in the faring where the old switch was, maybe you can use the same hole for a new switch... no drilling.
4) Rack is the same. In fact I switched the racks on my bikes. I wanted the top case rack on the '17.
5) Windshield is the same. I did cut mine down by about 1" on both my bikes. It was right in my sight line from the factory. 15 minute job...easy.
The only other things I did to the bike was to swap the rear 200 tire for a 180. Better turning response in the twisties. And, I installed clear smoke colored wind protectors. They connect to the mirror posts, they work great and look loke they were born there...cheap...abo ut $30 on ebay.
I'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself about which bike to buy.

I have the 2015 tourer, is this map revision suppose to improve anything for my year model 1400??

M-G changed the rear shocks on the Touring. My '14 had the ones that require saddlebag removal to adjust the preload. Some have devised modified tools as a work-around. M-G put KYB hydraulically adjustable rear shocks on newer models. I retro-fitted mine and, except for a very small mod to a part of the right rear fender (for hydraulic line clearance), it was a bolt-on job. Now I can adjust preload simply and without tools. I think the shocks are better quality than the '14 OEM ones and provide a better ride. The dealer gave me a price break, so it cost a little less than $1K.

There has always been a canbus on the 1400s.
My 2014 Cali 1400 has lots of fuses. That would seem to be inconsistent with canbus.

Canbus is a communication highway, nothing to do with protection from overload.

It enables large amounts of information to move back and forth between the various modules, the Blue / Grey twisted pair.
Kind of like Ethernet in a way.

Thanks for correcting my erroneous assumption. My newest BMW is CANbus and it has no physical fuses, so I jumped to the wrong conclusion.

Could be that your dealer put it in at service. Only way to know is to read what map is in there with guzzidiag.

'Preciate all the replies. Very helpful information. This may all be an exercise in futility, since my dealer recently became a memory (RIP Matthews Fun Machines).

Speaking of cruse controls, on a 2015, how do you get the green light to stop blinking after it's disengage without turning the motor off?
