Title: Shop Lighting Deal
Post by: pehayes on August 14, 2018, 11:43:32 AM
This board has had several discussions about using LED tube lights in work shops.  Some tubes are plug and play in your old fixtures. Some require cutting out the ballast and altering wiring.

Today, woot.com is selling a pack of four shop light fixtures including tubes for $100.  Free shipping if you are on Amazon Prime.  Pretty good deal if you're thinking about making the switch.  These can be daisy chained for ease of operation off of one socket or switch.  I don't know anything about the brand or quality.

Instant on brightness.
Huge energy savings.

I converted my shop to LED fixtures this year, the difference is amazing.

On the high bay ceiling (14 feet) I removed the T-8 fluorescents and installed new strip LED. The old fixtures were moved down to the wall surface and installed apx. 8 feet off the floor and replacement LED bulbs installed, did not need to replace the ballast.

The energy savings in itself make switching to LED a good move plus the increase in light level is a real plus.
