nilo:
Hi there,
¿¿¿¿ How would I block the engine to loosen the alternator bolt ????.
Thanks in advance for any insights......
56Pan:
Nilo,
If it was me, I would use the rope trick. Get some clean rope, take out the spark plug on one of the cylinders. Put a thumb over the spark plug hole and get that cyl. with the piston at the start of the compression stroke. Feed the rope into the plug hole and then slowly rotate the engine until the piston compresses the wad of rope against the top of the combustion chamber and the closed valves. Of course, leave plenty of rope hanging out the plug hole. It's always worked for me.
Antietam Classic Cycle:
Remove the rubber plug from the timing hole on the right side, use a small prybar or flat-blade screwdriver to engage the ring gear teeth.
Larry Wiechman:
Use a pneumatic impact gun. It hits so hard and fast, there is no need to lock the crank.
mtiberio:
all 3, or just try to use a hand wrench, it may come loose.
