Title: hepco & becker junior 30 panniers and exhuast clearance
Post by: Seamaster on June 29, 2016, 02:41:45 PM
Has anyone with experience with V7 racer type SHORT after market exhaust system with hepco & becker junior 30 panniers? I already know the difference between racer and stone type exhaust is using different high/low mount and up-swipe angle. I hope the short version of racer after market exhaust is going to fit because I might want to turn my bike into a racer later without have to buy new pips. Thanks!

The Racer and Stone also use different length passenger footpeg hangers / muffler hangers.

Your Stone with standard passenger pegs and H+B racks will be a no-go for the upswept Racer exhaust.

Don't they have conversion kit, I thought.

Yes.  Remove the H&B racks.  Purchase Racer passenger pegs.  Purchase upswept Racer exhaust.

You will not be able to use the H+B racks, without modification, with the racer foot peg bracket.

And then, you will have the issue of the muffler interfering with the bottom of the bag.

Don't know the gap between your V7 mufflers & HB bags, but I had a similar issue on my 750 Breva after lowering the position of the bags vs. different upswept aftermarket mufflers.  I got some foil/adhesive on 1 side made for sealing exhaust ducts for a water heater from Ace  Hdwe.   Taped the underside of the saddlebags and they did the job.  :thumb:

Michael is correct regarding mounting and clearance. The kit is for turning a Racer into a two-up ride; going the other way you buy the required parts a la carte.

Wayne is correct regarding protecting the bottom of the bags using heat reflective or heat insulating material IF you can get a setup that allows the bags to remain with the upswept exhaust.

Thanks for the inputs, I just got a pair of Zard exhaust that are little sorted, about 2 inch or so. I have not installed them yet but they look have enough clearance
