When I first started going to "The Vale" in '68 the highway ran right thru town and just North of the park . Lots more traffic , and usually there were a couple of families travelling cross country who were camped in Hewins Park . One of those things we lost by building bypasses around all of our small towns . CV had a theater , and a thriving downtown , sadly all gone now .

...I don't think we are in Cedar Vale, KS anymore...

We're not; the second photo (which I took years ago) is of Cawker City, Kansas, home of the world's second largest ball of twine.  Search engines do get confused about which caption goes to which photograph.

Here's Cedar Vale:

At one point, there was a request that the State reps help promote this event.
Is there any type of info available that I can send to my newsletter editor?
If not I will try to put something together and run it past the powers that be.

While waiting for Dusty to respond , you may want to checkout SmithSwede's post (reply # 1112, toward the top of page 38). Looks like a very nice summary for this event.

...is the first, dare I ask...

the largest (perhaps) is in Darwin, Minnesota.  In some ways, I have more respect for a claim of 2nd.  Most places that claim to have the 1st of something won't be able to tell you who is number 2, which, of course, puts a shadow over their claim to be first.

Greensburg, Kansas claims to have the worlds largest hand-dug well.  That's ludicrous to begin with, but if you ask them (as I have) "which well is number two?"  They cannot answer.  However, I'll accept that it's the worlds largest hand-dug well in Kansas.

The Kansas Rep is certainly helping , as are the NJ Rep , the Ohio Rep , the Texas Rep , the New England Rep , and some guy claiming to be the Area 51 Rep . (OK, I made that last part up )

Smithswede's post referenced above is pretty complete . Will get an address for the $25.00 ($35.00 for couples} deposits shortly .

I was at the Hill Top cafe last year and one of the town people ask how the breakfast went. They just wanted to know if it was like the son's of anarchy. The waitress thought about it and said no, it was more like the grandpa's of anarchy.

That might actually make a good shirt, or perhaps a patch.
That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

This is so clearly a rally. It looks to me as though it is shaping up to be both a big one and a good one, one that I wish I could attend.

But I remain utterly confused about the "not-a-rally" thing. What is that? Why is that?

John , that is "Knotarally"  It is because Cedar Vale is not officially sanctioned by the MGNOC , although several state reps and members will be in attendance . Really just a play on words .

Oh , and we wish you could be there also .

Grandpas of Entropy

I like this too, although I'm averse to the term Grandpas...just can't embrace it yet, although I'm chronologically eligible. My own problem, for sure.

I thought Agents of Entropy....but that's a metal band from Denmark. figures.
