for the rotor carriers this may work, email them to be sure

that stuff is for the 195mm front ends on the mid 70's touring guzzis, Eldos have 215mm (center to center) front ends. You need a 10mm spacer or fatter rotor-to-bearing flange for each rotor.

from his third message in this thread, I thought crc was behaving in way that would make me not want to do business with him.  look at the tone of that post and most of the others since.

crc, think you are sitting on gold?  fine, put it out there.  your "marketing" skills are not helping your cause.

I have upgraded 2 Eldorado's over the years to disc front ends (my first back in 1979, and my current). There are very few unique parts needed, and some of those have substitutions if you are not an originalist. I imagine anyone who puts floating rotors on the front of an Eldo isn't as well.

I remember seeing a pic of one of your eldos with a t front end on it mike, it looked like crap in my eyes, just sayin

ive seen one of your bikes with t triple clamps over the years. I don't know it all, but caveit emptor for those planning to disc their eldo there are many specific parts to a disc eldo front end, not like mike says very few. and why run a t fender mike.? and please don't get nasty just coz you've got half the American guzzi owners behind you

I built my Eldo dual disc starting with an original disc brake front fender and a pair of the longer fork shrouds, everything else can be bought new, the elusive second rotor carrier is available from Moe at Cycle Garden. The fender brackets are available from MG Cycle , you can use a later model Cali for the rear bracket. Call Mark at Moto Guzzi Classics for a good used 850T or T3 front wheel. The guys at MG Cycle set me up with new wheel bearings, calipers and master cylinder (almost as cheap as refurbishing old beaters), floater rotors because they are far better performers than the iron rotors,  new brake hoses because used originals will be finished by now, and a new rotor bolt kit.

Money can be saved by salvaging a pair of 850T3 rotors, caliper and wheel, again I suggest giving Moto Guzzi Classics a call.

Gregory Bender's This Old Tractor has a fully detailed section on fitting dual discs.

Well.. a lot.... I rode my Eldorado for a couple months with the stock 2LS brakes and stock suspension, I had been riding my R1150RT with power ABS for a long time and got used to really strong braking capability. Riding the Eldo at highway speed on rough roads and trying to haul the Eldo down from 70mph was an eye opener. I really love riding the Eldo but I want the security of modern brakes and the comfort of a smooth suspension.

When I got started on the disc conversion I read up on This Old Tractor on converting to FAC dampers and dove in to the deep end. The conversion to FAC and progressive springs is in my opinion as big an improvement as the disc brakes. My Eldorado is my main ride, the Beemer just gathers dust now.

My 2 cents on disc conversions; 40 year old calipers, master cylinder, brake hoses, wheel bearings, head stock bearings are probably due for the bin. Budget on new brake parts, the 'used' parts value is in the fender, the fork shrouds, bearing carriers, wheel. If the used brake parts are in good condition all  the better. Low end budget for new bearings, brake pads, caliper and master cylinder rebuild kits and replacement brake hoses $450.00 / high end new calipers, rotors and master cylinder add another $800.00.

Suspension - FAC dampers are $290.00, Progressive Springs $128, a lathe is required to machine the FAC tops to fit in the Eldo fork tubes. If you can do it yourself the suspension upgrade is under $500.00

Full blown cost disc conversion and suspension upgrade, $2200 +/-

It ain't cheap, but I don't regret having done it, I have blown more money on bikes and gotten a lot less.

I got mine at MG Cycle.

Cheers,
Shaun

Edit:  Tom Halchuck and I were working on this at the same time, and he did this great write-up for Greg Bender's site:

http://www.thisoldtractor.com/moto_guzzi_loopframe_disc_brake_-_installing_fac_dampers_into_original_disc_brake_forks.html

Jim Carey added some great updates.

Dang. And here I thought I was the only to've gone that far. I do believe I pioneered this back in about 2002 or so and have done it two different ways. Yes, the FACs and progressive springs really are worth it. Still. I wanted better.

I've since replaced my  FAC-equipped Eldo forks with up=side-downers from a V11 Sport, though. That's much better.

Hmmm?? Notice any difference between Lannis' post and CRC's post?? All those blue banners in the upper left corner of Lannis' and that lonely 4 year old blue banner on CRC's. I'm just sayin'...

I'm not saying that everyone has to donate...not at all. But if you want to use the forum to "test the waters" for items for sale you'd consider a donation.

Thanks! I worked very hard to make it so, and to avoid permanent alterations to any of the stock parts—either Eldo or V11 Sport.

Also, the comma is missing.  Should read "Shirley, the dog's dangles."

Also, Greg -- that bike needs a more attractive tail light, on account of that's as much of it as anyone ever gets to see  on a ride.    :bike
