Jeez I love those things. Someone should remind Ewan that he didn't "circumvent" the globe, he "circumnavigated it", (at least partially).

Someone should remind Ewan's assistant (fixed it).  (he circumvented the dictionary when placing the ad)

I was just thinking the same thing....Geeeeez!! - - of course, the quick answer is "NO", but like some other poster said, a  star-crazy "nimrod" will pay that ridiculous price...just for bragging rights.

Good luck with that...

Hey, the bike has a "mature powertrain" !

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Having been owned by a famous actor will add quite a bit of value to it, no clue how much value, but I wouldn't be surprised if it sells for that.  It is not that uncommon to see classic cars and motorcycles previously owned by celebs go for way above blue book value.  It gives the vehicle some provenance.

Maybe if Ewan dies in a spectacular fashion in the next couple of years , or races at LeMans , or turns into a Lothario of epic proportions ... until then , sorry , no way no how .

Ewan.... WHO?

Tell me about how one of James Garner's Oldsmobiles or AMCs is worth multiples over comp cars - if you can find a comp.

Sell me a Paul Newman Datsun for wildly inflated bucks.

Hell, overcharge me for Jeremy Clarkson's abused Reliant.

But -

Some bike that some actor maybe owned?

Nah, but kudos for trying.

But Ewan was OBI-WAN KENOBE!   I don't know, in some circles that would beat Tom Horn or Frank Bullitt .....

I've been a fan since "Trainspotting". I really like the bike except for the goofy handgrips and mirrors. IMO $7,000 would be top dollar because of the Magni fairing.

I'm not a big believer in celebrity ownership adding value unless the vehicle had a significant historic role (ie James Deans Porsche, the Bullitt Mustang, one of Paul Newmans Racecars etc.)  I'm probably in the minority with that point of view.

read the long description , the seller is so full of crap.

Top components from Öhlins and Brembo, and improvements like the hydraulic clutch and oil cooler bring the big machine into the 21st century

Compared to Dick van Dyke trying to do a Cockney chimney sweep's accent in "Mary Poppins", McGregor did a stellar job .... !

Yeah, but it's a stretch, though.

I do notice that in his next Disney movie,  "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", even though he's playing an Englishman born and bred, he does his natural straight American accent.   They couldn't trust him to do anything else ... !

Got to admire him for doing a frame-up concours restoration of a old GP race car in two days, though ....

I must have missed it: aside from the seller's claim that Mr. McGregor once owned these bikes, what other proof does the buyer receive?

He says "See my other items".

Apparently you get a "Certificate of Authenticity", whatever that is.

If it was a notarized or court-recorded document with McGregor's signature on it affirming that he owned the bike, I suppose that would do it.

Otherwise, it's just a piece of paper to justify a 3X price (including $9,900 for a BSA Bantam!) for some good-looking motorcycles ....

I love that DVD's horrible accent is so incredibly bad that even now, mocking it exists in popular culture.

This absolutely priceless skit on accents from the TV show; "Burnistoun" nails DVD at about the 45 second part but it MUST be watched all the way through.

That's good!   It's why I never use the automated checkout at the supermarket - I hate it when the electronic tart in the machine uses a fake stutter to say "I-I'm sorry, I didn't get that.  Could you repeat it?" ....

And I don't use GPSs, so if I rent a car and it has one, I set the language to Mandarin or Portuguese and point it in the opposite direction from where I'm going, and let the stupid woman whine at me .... !

Watching my English wife - who graduated high-school in Santa Barbara and then spent 8 years in NYC - try to navigate ANY voice controlled device or service is a riot.

A riot that I view from a safe distance!

At the BSAOC Open Day at Billing Aquadome (UK) in 2005, I thought it was my American background that made it difficult to understand some folks.

Then I heard a guy from Lancashire and a Welshman trying to talk to each other, and it was all "Eh?  Say that again?"   "What's that, now?"; they might as well have been a Ghanian and a Finn talking to each other in their home languages ....
