You sir, are obviously a gifted individual.  And now that I have read it on the internet, it must be true!!!

97 octane will sell for a higher price than either 93 or 87 octane!  Ka-Ching!

The 87 + 89 = 93 octane thing was circulating in the early 80's when we were changing to the new rating , meaning 97 octane was disappearing . No idea why these geniuses thought 2+2 didn't = 4 any longer

...and its causing gas stations to run out of fuel.  Just like the toilet paper craze/shortage of months ago.  Why do people act so dumb.  Now i might not be able to fuel the bike to go to TWO Suches, Ga this weekend.  Dang it......Well back on the hunt for gas stations that have gas.....

Bob, I just heard about the pipeline yesterday.  Have you actually seen people out there with a dozen 5 gallon cans buying up gasoline?  Or are people just topping off sooner than they normally would?  There were lines here in Florida, but it is probably people just topping off every day so they don't get caught without fuel when the pumps dry up.  That is different than hoarding.

For once, at least, it is not panic on the West Coast. Still,  I am paying 4.099\Gallon at my regular fuel stop.
Be patient, Im sure were going to get some bs reason for us to have a shortage and have prices go even farther through the roof before this is over.

Well ...

Danny says he'll let you mix that 93 with his 87 which will give you 97 octane , right ?

 Dusty
Well, my hemi Grand Cherokee recommended 89 and above, so like any reasonable car owner I try and comply with what the engineers who built it advises👍
Yea and mixing the 87 with 93 makes perfectly good sense to me😂

I was in line with my bike for about 45 minutes and observed people filling up multiple gas cans and their cars also.  (More than three persons doing that) so I assumed they were stocking up on gas.  Maybe Im wrong, but after a 45 minute wait i came home.  Later that day the gas station was out of gas and the five other gas stations i checked were also out of gas.  Must just be a supply issue if people are not buying more gas than usually....

Pipeline is back in operation so hopefully things clear up in short order.

And Dusty, please don't be so hasty to pull the plug on this topic. I'm not seeing any real inflammatory posting going on...

The Toilet Paper people strike again...........

Evidently the software hack effected the admin/finance side of the Colonial networks not the operational. They shut down the operational to protect it from the virus or ransomware.  Seems to be up and running now.

OK, OK...what do you think of this?  Like any business, their job #1 is to make money, not to sell product.  SSssoooo...what is to stop a gas station from simply putting plastic bags on their pumps, even though their underground tanks have plenty of fuel and simply wait for the price to climb another $.80 to $1/gallon.  THEN, open up at the new price and reap a windfall by selling the fuel that they have paid for (at the old wholesale price), at the new price!  They avoid they hassle of long lines, their employees get a couple of days off, and they are heroes for selling gas again.

How's that for dark side thinking?

Be well, stay well,

The pipeline was not effected , it was the financial computers of the energy company that were infected . The company shut down its pipeline .

I have a lot of experience on this subject.
Fear in itself is a good thing as it keeps us from doing stupid things. That is unless that same fear is accompanied with ignorance. Ignorance is simply  a lack of knowledge which is also understandable. Fear and ignorance with the added element of stupidity is when major problems begin for people. This principle can be attached to anything from this subject is gasoline, to marriage. Enough said about that😂👍

Bikes are full from before, truck has 1/2 tank. I can wait till all the crap gas on bottom of their tanks is gone and the new fill is all settled.

I see a price rise in fuel filters.

I did fill up the Prius a few days ago in the poor part of town, as I figured there wouldn't be any panic buyers at that location. There wasn't and the price hadn't been adjusted up either.

We get gas via barges from New Orleans, Mobile, etc. but everyone lost their minds. Still not as bad as the behavior before a hurricane hits, then it's just downright nuts.

Probably one of the reasons you can't pump your own gas in Oregon. Most will let motorcyclists pump their own however.
