Colorado NAR??
« on: May 29, 2023, 01:35:22 AM »
When we met at Ouray last fall we talked about doing a 2023 meet-up in the Boulder-Fort Collins region, riding the spectacular foothills roads. I miss those roads.

Any further interest?

I'll turn 75 in September and am planning a self-commemorative round-the-state tour on the Mille, visiting friends and all the national parks. My daughter lives in FoCo and I'd love to settle in there and reconnect with the Front Range Guzzisti for a couple of days of riding.

I'm in Lakewood, just west of Denver. The MO-KAN rally is the 15th-17th of Sept, but otherwise the month is pretty clear. We have a small club here. Some of the guys might be interested...

Seth, I might be able to make this one.  I have friends in the Denver area where Bev can visit and I could easily stay up there to ride.  Did you have a location for camping or lodging?

Seth, this is Roy. I alternate years with Alan, and will be hosting the Utah NAR out of Torrey for that weekend.

Seth,
The September Ouray NAR has been alternating years with Utah, and this is Utah's year.  I believe Roy has something in the works near Torrey, Utah for this year.  But I will be planning next years Colorado event, and have in mind something in the Front Range area.  Of course, if anyone would like to plan something sooner that would be great.

And BTW, does anyone have any great ideas for a location?  It would ideally be a location where there are both motels and camping, similar to Ouray, but in the Front Range vicinity.  I haven't picked a location yet.

How Front Rangey are you talking?  What about someplace like Nederland or Woodland Park?

I don't know the Front range that well for accommodations, but I know there are some curvy roads!

A little farther up in the hills, Kremmling or Fairplay are at highway junctions that would provide lots of riding opportunities.  Even gravel for the adventure-minded.

I've known of several motorcycle campouts/rallies which have met at the campground in Buena Vista.   https://www.bvoverlook.com/   But there are other campgrounds near to town.  Buena Vista is a great crossroads for riding.  Cottonwwood Pass is now fully paved, and a nice ride over to Taylor Park.

Sept 7-10 in Utah could fit my schedule. As it turns out I need to be in Boulder for a wedding on Sept 30 and that will have to be a Subaru trip because Gail needs to navigate.

I'll rethink this and try to make it to Roy's shindig.

I've been there too.  Nice amenities, close to Ft C, good place to head SW or NW

But I'm always interested to find new places.
