The EV and I Leaf & Loaf
« on: October 24, 2021, 08:20:36 PM »

I usually ride one of my Guzzis to Erie "in season" when we make our monthly trips to check on Kathi's dad.  October usually cooperates, but things looked iffy this coming week, so I decided to drive with Kathi.

As consolation, I took a two-day ride on Friday to look at leaves and just stretch the EV's legs and lift my unjustified sulk.

Leaf-looking was only an excuse.  I also originally intended to avoid Skyline Drive and the BRP because of anticipated crowds of leaf-peepers.

Nothing wrong with them doing that, but I didn't want to be part of crawling convoys at 15 mph.  But, on a last-minute whim, I jumped on SLD anyway.

Yes, lots of folks on Friday, but the roads themselves were much less trafficky than I feared.  The overlooks, trailheads, and facilities, e.g., picnic areas, were packed, but I was surprised how little traffic there was.  I passed the occasional car, but mostly I was alone.

A Guzzi -- a V7 Carbon -- in company with a Triumph (I think) and something else roared by me when I was at an overlook.  I passed them at another overlook, but that place was crowded so I didn't stop.  Somewhere between Front Royal and U.S. 211.  Wonder who that was?

I did a few miles on the BRP, then spent the night in Lynchburg.  Yesterday, I visited Lannis, then headed home.  A grand ride.

Here's one pic ...

As always, these are in "landscape collage," so you don't have to slog through all.  If interested, hover cursor over pix to see captions.

Off to Erie in the a.m. ... in our Fit, not a Guzzi (darn it).

But will see Jim M. (kingoffleece) on Wednesday to talk Guzzi.

Was out that way Wednesday thru Friday.
Was pleasantly surprised by the relatively empty roads and bright sunny days.
Expected more foliage color.
Guess I'm spoiled by Vermont.

Great slideshow.  A bit chilly and rainy here today but my EV got out for a ride yesterday.  Need to do some leaf peeping myself.
